How often can you let your child eat junk food?

My eight-year-old son loves burgers, french fries, pizzas, etc and every now and then wants to eat at places like Mcdonald's etc. Its okay once in a while but I think its not at all good for health on a regular basis. Moreover, these companies lure children by offering toys which are pretty useless, and the child forces the parents to buy him stuff there. We still manage to avoid it mostly but I know kids who are practically living off such food stuff resulting in obesity, and inactivity. How often is often enough? How often should the kids be allowed to eat such stuff/

Parents should take those kids in terms of taking a food to prevent the illness. They must not let there children ate a non-nutrition food. They must allow to ate a vegetable and a fruit........

My kids hardly eat junk food or go to fast food places..My mom or gram will take them to Mickey D's here and there but I hardly ever take them there...I very seldom keep chips and stuff like that in the house..My kids eat alot of fruits and veggies...I do try to make a pie or a cake once a week just so we have something sweet to eat once in awhile and still they don't get into it half the time..Alot of times I'm thowing it out...

I have a system with my son, He has planned a menu for lunch times for each day and dinners are whatever we cook. Burgers and Piizzas are limited to weekends and we prpare them at home with lots of veggies so, I don't mind him having that every weekend. even his day meals are prepared with lots of veggies , I simply grind the vegetables he doen't like and mix them to the ones he likes and till now he has not figured it out, lets see how long this can continue but for now its working fine.

Maximum twice to thrice a week, I allow my child to take junk food as snacks in the evening. Other than that, he is basically taking junk food for school lunch like biscuits, cakes, wafers, chips etc. rarely does he take sandwiches, fruits or veggies and I also don’t give him any in school coz I know that in all probability he will eat these ‘yuck’ food for some days and then will just chuck it in the classroom bin, with nobody the wiser. Regarding eating out, its restricted to once a month for any kind of food. Also I make it a point that he eats healthy food when some adult or myself are with him. I mean I just don’t expect him to eat healthily on his own without adult supervision. Of late though, he is a lot into juices in cartons…don’t know whether they are healthy or not.

burgers, fries, pizzas, hot dogs, etc. is evry child favorite food. we may call it junk foods but to them it's real food. i remember when my son was growing up the hardest thing was to make him eat whatever is served on he table. every meal time was like going to war. we fight just for him to eat, and it has become so stressful. then my mother told me just give him whatever he wants, that way you know he is eating and just compensate by giving him vitamins and she said in due time he will be tired of them and will start trying other food. and she was right, after a month or so my son just stopped,. and to our surprise just started eating whatever was served. just give in once in awhile for kids to have junkfoods it's really part of growing up, and even adults take them every now and then, rather than having yourself getting stressed.

I have a 19 month old, and I seriously try to watch the amount of junk food I let him have. We eat fast food usually once or twice a month. I do make pizza more often than that, but I use whole wheat crust, and very little oil. I also use low fat meats and some veggies as toppings, so it's really healthy, instead of just junk. As far as other junk food, like fries, chips, etc. My son only gets fries when we are eating at a fast food place that doesn't offer fruit or something as a side. He might get chips once or twice a month when we have a picnic or something. Cookies and candies are a rare treat for him as well. I prefer to give him fruit and yogurt as a dessert. And I prefer to give him chicken over a hamburger any day. We have veggies with all of our meals, and sometimes with our snacks, too.

I never ever ever let them eat junk food...if I had kids. It's extremely addicting, and maybe ever part of a weird consumer socialization activity, but I'd feed them rice, beans, whole wheat bread and spaghetti, and possibly ice cream every once in a while. But no junk food, not even allowed in the house. Have you ever seen "Supersize Me"? It's that movie by Morgan Spurlock about the fast-food industry.

Smiling. You are right. It seems that they are doing a very good business to have some sales promotion to get the attention of the kids' to have more profit by offering toys for kids to play with. Also in China either KFC or Mcdonald's have some pretty salesgirls lead the kids to dance outside the gate of their shop to attract more kids to their shops. I love to stand there to enjoy them dancing happily. After they finish dancing a piece, they would be given some small gifts, which attracts more and more kids in their dancing team.

My kids are adults now and when they were growing up all the fast food places that are around today weren't as predominant as they are now. Thank God for that. They seldom had it and it was considered a treat when they did. My grandkids on the other hand have way too much of it as far as I'm concerned and my grandson has acne problems which his mother never had and I blame the greasy food for it. If they absolutely have to have it I would make sure it wasn't very often for a lot of health reasons.

don't make them to eat junk food often.. this might cause health problems.. but taking junk food makes them immune to some extent but it is not a good way.. and when children like it.. they have to be fed atleast once in two weeks this keeps them happy.. If they do not listen.. they have to be educated by their parents about the problems that arise by taking junk food.. hope this might help.. thank you.
