It seems like its been a while since someone has started a discussion on one of the greatest TV shows of all time(not not the greatest imo, Wolf Lake will always hold that place in my eyes). I figured I'd see if I could'nt rekindle the Buffy topics. I doubt I can, seeing has I could'nt start a fire with a mtch and gasoline when it comes to getting interest from others, but its worth a shot.
So lets talk about Buffy. What did you like best about the show? Now that the series is long over what do you do to get your Buffy fix? Do y ou read the comic book, read Buffy books? Basically feel free to discuss anything at all about Buffy here.

I haven't read the comic book or any of the books. Maybe I should try that actually. =P
I do own every episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer on DVD, and I occasionally pull it out and watch some. I went through and watched the whole series in order a couple of times since I completed my collection, but most likely if I'm going to put it in for just a few minutes it's "Once More with Feeling", "Tabula Rasa", or whatever those episodes with the sexy vampy Willow in them were called. =P
What I actually really liked most about the show was how much the characters developed... and yet stayed the same people in a way. Willow is a great example, because she changed a lot over the course of the series, but later on you'd still occasionally catch a glimpse of the geeky shy Willow from the beginning.
I like a lot of the characters really. When Buffy the Vampire Slayer first came out, I watched a couple of the episodes and realized that ALL the main characters amused me, which happens pretty rarely with me and TV shows. I also like how the show uses the everyday life/mystical overlap... while these people are doing all this magical and amazing stuff, they're still going to school and taking jobs and doing all that sort of thing as well.
I think I'm a little too obsessed... my son's middle name is Xander. *laughs*

I'd have to agree, all the characters in Buffy amuse me has well. I used to own season 1-6 on DVD, but got rid of them when I joined the Navy. Big mistake, has I got kicked out after only a month, and now I only have season six. Though when I get the money I'm planning on buying the Chosen collection, and also the new Angel collection that is coming out.
I'd highly recommend comic series and books both. Though I have more experience with the books. I own about thirty-five and have enjoyed every one of them, so I guess that can tell you something about how good they are. My personal favorite is Sins of The Father, which has Pike in it. I've always enjoyed the Pike character and wish they would have had him on the show in some way.

I've got one of the "Tales of the Slayers" books and it is pretty good. My favorite characters on this show were Dawn and Willow. I loved the end of the world themes in the last few seasons. Willow was totally cool as an evil final battle in that one season. I also like that one goddess woman and her trying to take over the key (Dawn).

I'm crazy about Buffy, Shatterstar! It seems funny now, but I never watched the show until it went into reruns. I was hooked after seeing the first show. Saturday and Sunday were my Buffy and Angel days. I nearly cried when the cancelled Angel. I mean I was really inconsolable. I would watch the reruns no matter how many times I had seen them before. I find myself wishing all the time that they would just bring them back. I did read in a blog recently that they are doing something of a spinoff in England starring The guy who played the watcher.

I really hope "Ripper" becomes a show. I love Giles and would love to see more of him...I would especailly love to see more of the "Ripper" side of him. It was always so cool when you got a glimpse of the secret badass he was :-)

Yeah, I heard about that Spinoff too. Anthony Stweart Head is the guy you're thinking about.
I did'nt really like Anegel to much. Though I'll admit the least season was rocking. Bringing in Spike really helped that show out a great deal. I have yet to see all the episodes of Angel but am hoping to with this new Angel collection coming out.

We only own one season on dvd, but we rented/borrowed all of them and watched two or three episodes per night with dinner until we exhausted the series, lol. There's absolutely nothing about Buffy i don't like. The cast, the storyline, perfect and intriguing, and as Joss Whedon would say "outlandish". I strive for outlandish in my own work, lol, and he's an inspiration!!Great topic!

If its any help the Buffy Chosen Collection(all seven seasons) is only 175 dollars or so on Amazon. Might seem steep at first, but if you tally up how much you'd spend on each indvidiual season alone, its a really good buy. I'm planning on getting it when I get the money.

I liked the ending, well besides for the fact that it was the end. It seemed fitting, a big final battle, the destruction of Sunnydale. The way I imagined the series ending.

I am so happy to see that Buffy has such a huge following regardless of the fact that it ended a number of years ago at this point. I also watch Buffy in syndication and read the season 8 comic books (which are great by the way).
Has anyone here ever gone to a Buffy Sing-along? They host them a couple times a year where I live and everybody goes to watch Once More with Feeling. We watch the episode, sing-along, have trivia contests, and then there is usually a bonus episode. The theater is always packed and it is always so much fun. I think my favorite part is that we are given little finger puppets to act out the Mutant Eneny logo at the end.

I've been to the sing-a-long a few time. It's one of the most fun evenings Ihave had. I'm hoping there is another in my area soon. It's been a while since I have been to one.

I've read the first 4 comics so far, and it's great to have some continuation of the Buffy story. Still doesn't compare to a real 8th season, though!
I think my favorite thing about the show was the writing. They took stories that have been around forever, and put a twist on them to make them fresh. I think the episode in season 1 with Sid the dummy is a great example of that- to have an evil dummy would have been cliche, to have a dummy that fights evil was a great twist!

Sid was a great twist, a demon slaying dummy. That episode was great. I like the Buffy book Chaous Bleeds cause we get to hear from Sid again.

I was so creeped out at first by the episode when i was watching it for the first time, because i have a bit of a fear of dummy's, but Sid kind of helped me get over my fear a little bit...but then I saw that movie with those evil dummies, that came out not to long ago, and it kind of brought it back a little.

I loved this series. Though I haven't watched the last two seasons. I was in the military and out of the country at the time. It is one of my favorite shows of all. I loved how they made it about every day issues and put a supernatural twist to it. I first started watching it because of the supernatural element. I own the first five seasons of it and definately need the last two.

Actually Buffy is my all time favorite show. I love it. Right now my mom is watching it on Netflix and she has become addicted. It's funny, she calls me and wants to know what's going to happen next, but don't really want me to tell her. She's got the fever that's for sure.
I have also been reading the Season 8 comics that Joss is writing and I think they are great. Have the TV show back would be the ultimate, but the comics are well written and still readyy carry the spirit of the characters...at least I think so. Buffy is actually on a cable channel where I am at 7am, so I can watch a little before I go to work. It makes the start of the day so much nicer :-)

I miss the show a lot, I own books, that I have read a few times over, plus I have all the seasons on DVD which I will watch from time to time. I also have all of the Angel seasons on DVD, I like to pull that out and watch the ones with various Buffy cast members making guest appearances. I think they should make a movie. Although I don't know how that would go over. The original movie wasn't very good...but yeah I like to watch the episodes and read the books, I've never read any of the comic books.

I just loved the connections between Xander, Buffy, and Willow, they just had that special something between the three of them, and I can relate to that, when you meet someone you don't know but it's so easy to be with them, and it's like immediately you're bestfriends. I usually watch Once More With Feeling as well, I love Spike :) Wasn't crazy about Dawn, I'm an only child, and its silly but I felt more connected to Buffy because of it, and when she suddenly got a sister, I felt like I lost some of that connection :(
