Would you go naked for world peace?

What would you do if it were in your power to effect world peace? If a genie would grant it to but you had to maybe go out of your comfort zone - if you're shy like me - you have to give a talk in front of a crowd of a million - or sing. OR walk around your local grocery store - naked...give something up like your cell phone forever and ever. Or give up a sense like sight, smell, hearing or taste...or give up having children...or sacrifice your own children for no more wars ever - ooh that's a toughie I couldn't do it. Selfish I know.

You're a wiz at these hypothetical, I tell you! I love the way you think =D (did you ever feel it was a burden growing up?) I could talk in front of that crowd, provided it was on something I felt passionate about, or at some sort of event/eisteddfod with a speech, singing solo? With accompaniment, definitely, I love to perform even though I have the worst nerves =P Walk around naked - sure thing, especially if I was in a group, because I think that would be hilariously cool =D Sure it would be embarrassing, but for the cause: definitely worth it! Mobile phone: GONE, I would rid my life of it for world peace and equality, so long as I could retrieve my important messages and phone numbers first =P I don't know if I would give up one of my senses, I think that would be hard (even though I know I posted a MySpace blog on it back in the day). I think I could definitely give up smell, although it is one of the senses I have 'trained' hard, and enjoy - I think scents are important. I could give up the ability to reproduce, considering I don't really plan on it, and I'm more than happy to adopt if I did want children later in life - they deserve families as well, and it would be a great feeling to supply that. If I already had children: no way could I sacrifice them, that's not my choice to make, if they wished to, then I couldn't stop them, because in the 'right' situation, I would do the same. But it would have to be their decision and their choice, I don't have the right to make that decision for another, I couldn't live with myself. =]

Amy, Nice to know that I was being missed.:) :) Actually, Malyck wrote an excellent response and your counter-comments were equally good...so I thought I must put in my words of appreciation for both of you. I am sorry, in my hurry, I forget to mention about your counter-comments. You know your counter-comments and sub-comments make the discussions lively and interesting and that is the beauty of the discussions started by you. You write so effectively, I feel that I am very far behind you in terms of writing and thoughtfulness, I hope if I continue to participate in your discussions, I would learn a lot from you. Deepak Have a nice day!

If I knew for sure that the genie could bring about a lasting world peace.... honey, I would walk naked onto a stage in front of 10 million people, sing a song, throw my cell phone into the crowd, and dance the Macarena. I may have to have a couple of drinks before doing the Macarena but hey.... it's for world peace! I don't have any kids of my own but I already have a cousin, who I helped raise and is like a son to me, in Iraq for the second time so that would qualify I think. Ahhh if it were only possible :D

No, It would be difficult for me to go naked and deliver my talk to crowd or for that matter walk in a grocery store. I basically a shy person.

No, you're not selfish...that's one thing for sure I couldn't sacrifice ANY of my family members, or any decent human being. I'd sacrifice Bin Laden or Castro...LOL I am shy like you but I'd probably suck it up and speak or sing to a crowd; I'd be totally petrified but I'd sure try. The walking around naked...does it HAVE to be my local store? Maybe if no one knew me and someone gave me a good stiff drink. For real, true honest to goodness eternal world peace I'd be willing to give up somethng like my cell phone but I'd need to just be sure someone else had one when I went somewhere with the kids just in case of emergency. I guess I AM selfish because I don't think I could give up my sight. Hearing would be really tough, taste and smell, I'd miss them but I think I'd do it for world peace... Wow, how'd I do? I sure would love for world peace to be possible though instead of just an elusive dream. Great topic! Annie

I love what you'd be willing to sacrifice for world peace Annie - and your honesty. As for how you did, any answer would do - because it would be the truth! Even if you were unwilling to give anything up! Thanks again for particiapting in one of my discussions!

World Peace, thats really important but The option u say are not workable as genie cant do it. So walking naked, Giving up cell phone, scarficing sense or part of body, scarficing children, dont u think its already going in area where there is WAR or problems like that, So genie will be adding in it instead of helping. The best i think is needed, united efforts from all of people, i am not saying governments but people so we can handover peacefull and green World to our coming nation

Yeah, united efforts is key but with DIGNITY. Self esteem is very important for survival of society. So tie hands a raise voice for noble cause. Its easy way to start from ur home, ur community circle, ur area and i am sure when such small circles will be raised all over the world then all these circles will be merged in a BIG Circle, that is our GLOBE Earth

There must be other methods to make the world peace. As I know such thing haven't happened in my counrty. We must take some availability actions to give press on the enemy.

hello, artemis. I don't think that I have thought about this--walking naked for peace. Well, if my walking naked could help the world enjoy a peaceful world, I would do it without a second thought. To sacrifice myself for peace is worth doing. I am a peace-loving person and hate any wars in the world.

All the things you mention are real possibilities. I think I might have a problem if it came to shaving my head. Not that I think my hair is that great. I'm not sure of the shape of my head. So I might not think world peace is worth that.......wow that is so shallow.... My children are adults....I certainly would not sacrifice my granddaughter...

Honestly, I believe the only 'power' I have to effect world peace is prayer. I believe that intercession, through prayer, is an effective tool. However, for the purpose of this discussion, I'll try to see how I can go about the options you've presented as if there were absolutely no other options. :) Give a talk in front of a crowd of a million - or sing: I'll be needing months (or years!) to prepare for this, including - but not limited to - a repertoire of songs that touch the heart, a superb lineup of backup vocals, and an audiovisual presentation that transcends all social class, age, gender, race, age, or political inclination. Walk around the local grocery store - naked: Alright, but only after a month of toning up. Give up my cell phone forever and ever: For the past two months, I've been quite used to not having my cell phone so this won't be a problem. Give up a sense like sight, smell, hearing or taste: If it were up to me, sight would be the 'easiest' to give up. I've learned from Basic Safety Training that the technique to walking in dark, enclosed spaces is to walk near the walls. So, applying what I've learned, I'll end up with a cane in my right hand and an outstretched left arm feeling the walls everytime I walk... for the sake of world peace! Give up having children or sacrifice own children: I've never been married and I haven't birthed a child. Call me idealist or traditional but as a single person, my mantra is "If I marry, I marry; if I don't, I don't. No children until after marriage." However, I do know how painful it could be to lose a partner, a parent or a pet and with that in mind, I don't think I would be willing to sacrifice my own child for the sake of the world. Only God was able to sacrifice His son for the sake of the world and I believe that is the very reason why we are still alive today, pondering on world peace.

Good to see you again, too, artemis! However, forgive me if I have to point out a slight oversight you may have made: you 4got the "a" in "leaper" so it reads as "leper." It is my prayer that as I leap for my dreams, I won't end up a leper. That will be one tough test of faith! Please pardon me, too if I kinda answered in a slightly different approach. Sometimes I have a tendency to interpret or understand questions differently. I don't know why, really. Hehe. You've mentioned Abraham... It's really remarkable how God's people can be so faithful and obedient to God and it is part of my lifelong dream to be that faithful and obedient even to the point of being able to give up even my own child for the sake of my country or the whole world; or in my present case, sacrifice my comfort zone.
