One thing that upsets me is when I signed up for the job they told me my hours would be 10pm to 6am. They can make me come in by 9 o clock on some days if they want to. And I've been working 9:30-6am this first week. I know 30mins isnt a big issue to you, but it is to me. There's a lot I could get done. Another issue is they gave us a paper to fill out our prferred scedules (days we can work and days we want off). On it is also a part that we are suppose to check. You have some options that say; Don't give me more than 40 hours, don't give me more than 30 hours,20 hours, etc. Well I check "don't give me more than 30 hours." But they have me working 40 hours this week!

Oh man why did they bother giving you the form asking you then? I know how it is though, I had jobs that worked like that. They say one thing, then they have you doing another. Suddenly you know why they had that position open for you, LOL. Oh well with every job you have to take the good with the bad. As long as the good is out weighing the bad, it's cool.

I hope you can question them about it and get it worked out. Maybe it was just an oversight on whoever made the schedule. They might have just looked at it wrong. Because I'd be concerned too if someone did that on purpose!

I talked to the PetsHotel manager. She's actualy really nice. She's going to try to find someone to take one of my days so I'll only be working 4/7 days! :) Yay. I do hope it is a weekend day because right now I'm working Fridays Saturdays and Sundays!! Eske.

Maybe it is just for training purposes or something. I would just question them about it and see what they say. I started a new job in May and it was only supposed to be 20 hours per work, but because we are so short handed now I am working 35 hours a week. That is ok with me, and my boss asked me if it would be all right if he upped my hours. Also, is anyone on vacation or something and maybe you are picking up those hours or something. I hope things work out for you, and I am glad that you are enjoying your new job!

well if they pay me for the extra 10 hours that would be fine but if not then i'll complain..but as for you, since you didn't want it and do checked it for them to know they must abide with their regulations and contract they made you sign..that is not a good thing not to keep their words on that matter..you should tell them how you feel about it but not assured what will be the out come they could misinterpret you didn't like the job.

Yeah, i'd like to talk someone because right now I would like to have another day off. I don't like working 5 days out of 7 because I never have time to see my nieces. But I hate complaining and confrontation.

Good for you, talking and getting results. Even better that they were responsive. So you will be doing what you love and the number of hours you wanted very soon. Sorry, thought you were still in training. I'm used to training, it the jobs I've had being 2 to 4 weeks long. But my last training for a job with Blue Buffalo was a couple of days.

It's okay, a simple mistake! =P Yes, the managers at my PetsHotel are very nice. I was in training a couple of weeks (not straight) before I started working! The dog that I really loved (my fave) that was staying at the PetsHotel is leaving on Thursday and I don't work again til Friday, so I won't see her again...Awww...hehe.

Often, training is 40 hours even if the person will be part-time. I've seen that at a job. But I've also seen 40 turn into more hours. I had one part-time job that became many hours per week above 40. I worked 24 hours in one day and was asked to drive clients in. I told them that I was walking home, sleeping, and when I felt well enough, I would walk back and get my car. Did they mention it being a full-time job in the interview? Probably if it's part-time, maybe the 2 weeks of training will be full-time. Hopefully, after that it will go down to less. Sometimes, I think some jobs only read the parts of the application that interest them. Are you doing relief or regular part-time? Have they written your exact title of your position anywhere? Like full-time relief, part-time relief, regular part-time, etc.? Usually your first pay-check will tell you lots of things. Take care

I've already finished my training. The 40 hours I'm talking about isn't training, it's actual working. But I talked to the manager and she said she'll find someone to take one of my days. She said she has to hire another full time worker, apparently I'm not the only one with a scedule issue.

Hello LilyoftheThorns, Do you work in a vet office or pet store? My daughter has applications in and she would probably love to take your place.. But I see what you mean about the hours, if you can't or don't want that many hours, then they should consider that. In fact, some people complain because where they work, they barely get full time in because it is easier on the employer for taxes or something, so I am surprised that you were given 40 hours..

Heher, that's preey interesting a view. For my company, when we are interviewing, we would normaly inform the applicants directly that this job requires quite some overtime (OT) and would suggest them not to apply for it if they think it is not suitable for them. To tell the truth, we seldom have that much OT normally, though we do need serval hours OT during the Peak Season. It's not good being treated in your situation, but I understand them some bit here, since it is not that good to run a business well, and if you are capable of doing the things well enough, they might not require you to work them much time here. Wish you good luck. Andy
