Three options:
Credit card
ask to pay a little at a time
see if you can work a double or two to pay for it
Those are the only suggestions I have for you

Call every vet in the pone book and eventually you will find one who will do the tooth at a reduced cost or for free. Also Friends of Animals has vets wo work on cats for free! It is difficult to locate one but keep trying!

at this point, you may only need kitty antibiotics... to get the infection in the tooth down. if you have to have the tooth removed, you can do that after the infection has calmed and yes, it's expensive... but try to shop around. my vet did 9 teeth in one of my cats - he has an autoimmune disease that attacked his teeth - and he only charged a little over 300 bucks. now that may seem like alot, but most vets would have charged upwards up 800 or more!
but you really do need to get him to the vet... it will only get worse and then you'll have more expensive problems to deal with down the road.
good luck to you... thankfully i have a vet who, after i established that i would pay him, will let me 'charge it'.
