no mistake with the word here my friends. its how do you keep awake and not put yourself into sleep! and because of what?? not coz of work nor study but a tv program! ^__^;;
sunday night. I was supposed to be on bed early because I have to wake up early Monday to go to work. but no. I stayed awake till almost 1 in the morning because of JET LI!!! ^__^;; jet li's movie "HERO" was aired last night and even though i've watched it before, I couldn't help but watch it again! hey, I'm a fan, can't do anything about it. LOL and I was curious and I needed to see how it would turn out if it was dubbed in our local tongue. ^__^
but no matter how a humongous die-hard fan I am of jet li, my body wasn't up for it. during ordinary nights like last night, I always sleep before 11pm and beyond that, i'll be forever yawning and turn into a disposable zombie. LOL but I love jet li so much and I wanted to finish the movie no matter what. ^__^ and I beat myself up by stretching and stretching and stretching a lot and a lot of times just to keep me awake and shoo the yawns away and keep my eyes open. its not that effective but hey, I finished the movie! LOL
the bad part is, I'm here at work and I'm sleepy. ^__^;; oh well, as long as its for Jet Li. ^__^
how do you keep yourself up at night?

Hehehe! I know you're the ultimate number 1
Jet Li fan. Problem is you are already pre-
conditioned to sleeping at the time you were
up watching the movie. I find it's mostly mind
over body and I psychologically work myself up
to an excited state of frenzy. This gets your
adrenaline flowing.
Other than the psychological way of staying
awake. Try drinking strong coffee before you
plan on staying up.

hahaha... i've got one more discussion in my sleeve to prove that I'm a die-hard jet li fan. hehehe...
actually, i've already set up my mind hours before that I'm going to watch the movie no matter how late it would get. i've decided that i'll stay up late and to heck with waking up early. LOL but its really the biological part of me that fought with the adrenaline and the interest and to whatever's behind it. ^__^;;
I didn't want to drink coffee. I don't think it could've worked for me. it takes a few cups to keep my eyes open but that would mean a hard-to-get sleep too. anyway... good thing the next jet li movie on tv would be on a saturday night. ^__^ haha...

I don't know a single person who can't sleep after eat that much. Don't most people get tired after eating very much?
I do...
I don't really know how I keep myself awake but it works.
You just have to find something which keeps you awake like.. watching a horror movie, sitting in front of the computer, open the window and let cold air in,..... I guess there are many ways since coffee doesn't work that much or people dont like it..

i spend the whole night on mylot.
first, i can keep myself awake, because i have to think about the discussions and responses carefully.
second, i can earn money online from mylot. now i need money very much, so if i can earn money, then i must work hard on it, so i can insist for a whole night.
sometimes i will see movies or cartoons to keep awake. i like Japanese cartoons very much, such as bleach, naruto, hunter and so on. i hope you can have a try when you want to keep awake at night.

maybe you got so used to staying up so late and your body go used to it also. ^__^ I don't like drinking coffee too, at night. I drink coffee during the day. before, I really didn't like drinking it, but when I heard that it has antioxidants, I learned to drink a cup or two every day. LOL

Frankly speaking, it's mylot that is what mostly keeps me awake at night. Lots of activities happen here during night-time (here in our region), especially those from other countries that are just starting their day and wake up logging in here on mylot!;)
The two other reasons that keeps me awake at night are, my PS2 game console and reading books. If I am not in the mood to mylot, I would try to divert my attention on any of these two examples I have given!;)

I have seened that last night. I also slept at around 1:30 am. Me, what keeps me awake , i drink caffeine, or i keep myself very busy. But we can't avoid to yawn, simple signs of lack of sleep, i think its normal to stay up late for the benefit of yourself, like watching your favorite actor Jet Li. Our Filipino doubter are great, isn't they?

yeah, our dubbers are good. but i wish they'd carefully choose what to dubbed. sometimes they dub a movie and it wont feel right, like the emotions are lost and the characteristics attached to the voice are lost. and i wish they'd carefully choose dubbers too! they've done a mistake when they chose yasmin kurdi to dub rukia's voice in bleach! she ruined rukia's reputation. ^.^

terrible she is! i didnt want to watch bleach at first because of that. but i couldnt ignore this one great anime so i just pretended that im not hearing yasmin's voice and imagined it was the japanese seiyuu (voice actress) that im hearing. i hope they wont hire yasmin kurdi again for a dubbing job!

That must have happened to everyone at some time or another so you are in good company. Many people drink a caffeinated beverage to stay awake, but I try to stay away from caffeine. I've seen it make people too jumpy. So I guess I would drink ice water and just get up and walk around once in a while to increase the oxygen flow.
Years ago, I tried to stay up on 3 separate occasions to watch the same very long movie (with lots of commercials!) about a guy with two ferrets who save him from enemies. Each time I had to give up and go to bed because of work the next day. He has some kind of ring that tells him of danger and a girl, of course, and these ferrets. Now that I'm retired and could make the time, I just want to see how that movie ends! But I cannot remember the name of it. Something like the Animal Tamer. If anyone knows this movie, please tell me the name of it and who acted in it! I want to see whatever happened to those adorable ferrets.

yeah.. walking around the house keeps the sleepiness away. ^__^ but the moment i take my seat, i get sleepy right away. ^__^;; i dont know about the ice water, i havent tried it. i dont like drinking cold water at night. ^__^
oh that's just too bad. i know the feeling of not having to see the ending! i wish i can help you with that but i havent heard of that movie.

if it is my favorite television program or movie, I am usually up at night but if for studying or work, I would get yawns and sleep
but try having coffee, I have tried working night shifts as an analyst before and what I do to keep away at night shifts is drinking lots of water, by drinking water you urinate a lot and keep yourself awake
I also tried standing up, I cant sleep standing up so I stand up and watch and think what Ill be doing, cause by sitting down I could sleep
but try coffee next time

Well, I love coffee but it can't make me awake. Or shall I say even if I drink coffee then my eyes want to sleep I really go to sleep. But ah ah.. I usually go to sleep at 1 to 2 am :D I think I just use to it since my high school because of so many rehearsals on our theater ensemble.:D
So how do I keep myself awake at night? I don't know, maybe my eyes get use to it that I always sleep at dawn. But if I am tired then my body wants to rest and my eyes really wants to sleep while I still have some work to do, I force myself to get awake; or I will prepare something to eat or drink soda. It can surely keeps you awake. :)

wow. you're a theater actress? cool. ^__^ yeah.. sleeping late also has something to do on what we have been used to, which means our habits. I guess it never became my habit to sleep at dawn. ^__^;; even if I sleep at dawn (and that is after going home from a bar or a drinking "session" LOL), I tend to wake up early as usual and that's bad coz it would mean lack of sleep for me. and I couldn't function well if that's the case. ^__^

- Tomorrow's exam. I won't sleep to study.... :(

The thing is, I sleep for about 6-7 hours and I think it's enough already. :)

I have no solutions to your problem Bear coz I am in the same boat. Both my husband and me are avid sports fans and love watching football, cricket and lawn tennis (in that order). Now with these sports being global phenomena, there is some match or the other being played somewhere which we would love to watch but the timings are the wee hours of the morning or late night like 11:30 / 12 (match starts at midnight). We try our best to stay awake by keeping snacks and drinks handy, we sleep till the late evening, have light dinner, go to the loo often…but no point. After an hour max, we both start dozing off. Then I will push him and ask the score and he will shove me and ask the score. By the time we are through with our pushing and shoving, we are both deep in slumber with the idiot box busy with its match. And since its deep into the night, we keep the volume quite low and so we ourselves don’t know when we doze off without switching off the set. This has happened many times, we have woken up in the morning with silly smiles on our faces just to see the TV still on!

I drank about 10 cups of really good coffee on my flight from Phoenix to Toronto today. I drank all that coffee because it came from my favourite cafe, a Canadian place called The Second Cup, that I had no been to for three months, as I was in the USA. LOL I have a feeling I am going to be awake for days!

10 cups??? that's a lot!!! well?? were you awake for days?? LOL i think you better not do that again. i think its bad for the health to drink 10 cups of coffee within a day! that cafe really made sure you take a second cup, and a third cup until the tenth cup. LOL

I don't usually keep myself avake at night because sleep indeed is important to me. But I remember I had to stay up really late working on some assignments when I was at school and the only thing I rely on would be the coffee from McDonald's. I don't know why the McDonald's here make the most disgusting coffee in the world and right after I drink it, I would be totally awake. It really worked at that time.

There are two ways i can keep myself awake at night to watch a programme.
if i know it's deep at night, i'll sleep in the afternoon and i can be awake for the whole night or i take some coffee and that's how become very active, no room for any sleep. if i'm not able to have the afternoon sleep, then i sleep and set my mobile phone alarm some minutes before the start of the programme and get customise to the time.

Just keep the TV open and I can be awake all night. Even If I read books or doing some cross stitch, I got loss with the time and just realize that I don't have enough time to sleep as it's already few hours before sunrise.
Sometimes If I need to finish a report or a project I just drink cola so I will be awake all night ^___^. The following day I will be like zombie lol

you do cross stitch?! I do too! ^__^ I'm so excited! its nice to know someone with the same interest. when I was in highschool I could stay up so late too just by cross stitching. its really an addictive hobby and I really addicted to it. ^__^
recently I was beginning to be a cross stitch addict again. but I couldn't finish I was doing coz the stores always lack some of the threads I need. I never wanted too but I stopped. I left my work undone. but I have plans of finishing it in the future. ^__^

Haha... You really like Jet Li a lot. How to keep one self awake at night? Let me see... For me, i think of that something that i want to do then didn't feel sleepy at all. After i finish the thing that i wanted to do, i'll feel sleepy afterward. I always play online game till 2a.m in the morning. What's keep me awake? i also don't know. haha... XD
Keep your mind full of thought, keep on thinking of something. Don't let it be empty, otherwise you will sleepy.
This work for me, but i don't know it will work for you or not.

oh, someone had told me that if you're thinking of someone late at night, that person wouldnt be able to sleep. i know, i have to tell someone to think of me so i wont fall asleep when im watching a good movie. LOL
