Yet, U.S. Citizens need passports to do the same thing. The President of Mexico also complained about the U.S. cracking down on illegal aliens, yet they grant no rights whatsover to illegal aliens in their country. I guess Mexico is now the only superpower in the world.

hi. it sound so familiar. here in south africa there is a problem with zimbabwe residents. there is a crisis in zim and the people are streaming into sa. the government says let them be. why cant they set up refugee camps. so they can control the numbers. they spent millions on a sensus a few years back and now all thats for nothing. the majority of people in sa dont have passports.

Looks like some things in the world are indeed universal :)

Yup, the illegal alien problem is universal. What gets me though, the very nations that point their stinky fingers at us are the hardest on the illegal aliens in their own country.

Para, thanks again for enlightening me on the goings on in this country. I didn't know about this! I have to wonder - what are these people thinking allowing this to happen? I have a question - does Mexico really have an illegal alien problem..or are the aliens down there just passing through on their way to the US? THe people who answered this question really broung up some interesting points. Remember when truckers were a force to be reckoned with? What happened to 'Convoy'? Maybe they have got to get going or maybe they just feel beaten down like the rest of us.

I don't know what kind of "problem" illegal aliens are to Mexico. I know that a lot of our illegals passed through Mexico. I also know that when an illegal alien is discovered in Mexico they are given no rights whatsoever. Strange that a government that points its stinky finger at us is much worse. The Mexican government is a cesspool of criminals, nothing more. The nation might as well be run by MS 13.

Hello ParaTed, This ridiculous pilot program is so very troubling! The implications are far-reaching and potentially disastrous. I had really expected a bunch of Teamsters to roll up to the mouth of the Trans-Texas corridor on Saturday morning, and park their trucks to prevent any traffic flow. If I was a trucker, that's what I would have done! The Department of Transportaion is making boisterous claims that the Mexican trucks will be subject to search, and even x-ray. Yet, as far as I know, explosives and other contraban can easily be concealed. The historical level of corruption within the heirarchy of Mexican Administrations is certainly cause for alarm. I wonder how much of a bribe it will take for Mexican security guards to turn a blind eye at the loading docks. Never mind the fact that Mexican truck drivers earn an average of .11 cents per mile, where American Teamsters earn approx. .44 cents per mile. How many American truckers, who willingly abide by the myriad of safety regulations in the USA will be forced out of their jobs? And, is Mexico planning on pitching in to help with our road maintenance costs? Oh, and what about liability issues? Or, vehicle maintenance issues? Or E.P.A. issues? If a Mexican truck spills its contents in an accident, who's going to foot the bill to clean it up? The idiocy in Washington needs to be stopped! And, the only way that's going to happen is if Americans start hammering the phones and faxes on Capitol Hill. There's little question why the launch of this pilot program was scheduled to coincide with the Labor Day holiday. It's best to sell-out the American people when their busy celebrating their long history of increasing productivity and commitment to hard work. Thanks alot Washington!

I'm still trying to figure out the up side to this! The fact that we need Passports to go to Mexico, but apparently they don't to come here.. well that's telling.
