i just watched fox news (or was it cnn? i forgot) and i found out about this. it was believed to be a blood-sucking creature. the woman who found the animal thinks it killed her chickens. well here's a part of the story...
CUERO, Texas - Phylis Canion lived in Africa for four years. She's been a hunter all her life and has the mounted heads of a zebra and other exotic animals in her house to prove it.
But the roadkill she found last month outside her ranch was a new one even for her, worth putting in a freezer hidden from curious onlookers: Canion believes she may have the head of the mythical, bloodsucking chupacabra.
"It is one ugly creature," Canion said, holding the head of the mammal, which has big ears, large fanged teeth and grayish-blue, mostly hairless skin.

Looks like a small wild pig to me. I think that studies will show just that. Mythical animals have always been prevelent in society and there has always been a natural explination for them eventualy. This is no exception. I think it's going to turn out to be a pig.

To me it looks like an ugly dog that is hairless because of the climate and as mentioned in the article it has a preference for blood. It could be that it's jaws are not strong enough to eat the meat but that the blood is enough proteins for it to live on. I hope that you get the DNA evidence to prove once for all what this animals really is. And if yo do find out please put your report here on mylot, a lot of people are interested in it.
