I have a step-son, My fiance' and I arn't married but I still call him my step-kid. I'm 21 years old my fiance is 27 and my step-kid is 9. We have been together not quite three years, It took a while to get use to haveing a step-kid. At first he didnt have custody, so it was only part time. We got custody this summer and its been kind of hard, I'm just getting use to watching over his back on every little thing to make sure it gets done. But the more I learn about him and the more I love him. I still fell that I would have a bigger connection to my own kid, and that makes me fell bad. I guess thats just nature though.

I don't think you have to be a biological parent to love a child. I personally think that you would feel more connected to a child if they were your biological kid, but other then that I don't really think there is a difference.
