Hello Secretbear!
I was glad to hear that your quiete excited for christmas already at this early. :) As for me, we dont usually buy christmas decor at this early stage 'cause we usually put christmas decors at December 16 start of advent. But im already making my christmas lists and from time to time i am checking it. hehehehe...
Merry Christmas to you in advance!

hi secretbear,
yeah that's our usual practice. We had it since childhood so now that i am married and have a family on my own i still adopt that practice.
Well, sometimes im thinking to have it early as possible so that i can enjoy more on watching the decorations. But that still a plan... and not coming true. hehehee... Maybe i try it this time and maybe it will work.
Christmas is really a happy season. By just hearing the christmas carols and looking at christmas decors and the christmas lights it somehow uplifts our sadness. It can make our lives more colorful and hope for something better would happen to our lives!
Have a Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year to you!

Advance Merry Christmas to you too!!! Very early huh =) I'll try to greet you again when it's much nearer ... LOL ... I haven't shop for Christmas yet though I started my list of what I would buy. We haven't start decorating yet, perhaps on October. We usually put decors at that time after my niece and nephew has been able to celebrate their birthdays.

no secretbear u are still the first one to tell everyone that ber has arrived ,so chill ,and i must tell u hv a very fine sense of humour because i hv never heard of ber months though they exist, and hey btw language in india is hindi not hindu ,hinduism is a religion and people who follow this are hindus ,thereare many religions in india which coexist and i'd say quite in harmony, and i was busy to respond to the discussion was it about wishing someone happy b'day ??? so in HINDI it will janmadin ki shubhkamana ,which literally translates in english as good wishes on b'day .lol

Yes, and the "brrrrr" season is soon to begin, too. Yeppers, we went shopping yesterday and saw Xmas decorations in the stores already. They used to keep them in stock until after Thanksgiving, then suddenly it was after Halloween, Thanks for the reminder. It is time to update the list and start addressing cards and soon after, gathering stuff together for tax reporting. Yuck.

oh.. i see... its on april here too. i mean, the paying of taxes. but same as with your country, they prepare the needed docs up to the last minute. but i think no one here, or maybe just a few, thinks about taxes just after christmas. christmas is extended until the first sunday of january and the holiday madness extends like until february. LOL

Here in the US our income taxes are due in April, and some people do wait unti the last minute to pay them, but I always start getting my paperwork ready right after Christmas. Since they take money out of our pay every month, sometimes we get money back instead of paying more, but it is still nobody's favorite way to spend time and the rules get more complicated every year.

We haven't put up any Christmas decorations yet. We still have to do Halloween and Thanksgiving, so our Christmas decorations go up in November.
We have started on our Christmas shopping though.

Mmmm. I'm guessing your from the Philippines.
Yeah it is already in "ber" months but not being pessimistic bu I don't feel that much people in our area are excited for it. I don't know maybe because of the economy? or maybe the spirit is not that strong enough.
Personally, even long before I'm not that excited with any holidyas like christms or new year...maybe because I don't feel it that special.

hahaha.. i dont have any problem with giving gifts to my godchildren even if sometime im short of budget, but the thing im not really comfortable with is having to entertain their parents when they come to our house. im not close to all of them and im not updated with what's happening with their children so we really dont have anything to talk about. ^__^;; that's the bad thing about getting godmothers/fathers for kids, parents pick just anyone. ^.^
oh i dont like those kids carolling at our house too at nights. i mean, its okay if its once a week. but they're doing it every night! its like they made it as a job and im pissed about it. ^__^;; talk about christmas spirit. LOL

Christmas doesn't start until the end of NovemBER. September is still summery... you can still get outside for most of it.
October is Halloween.
November is Thanksgiving.
Christmas does not and should not start until AFTER Thanksgiving. Otherwise you're burnt out on Christmas and you've ruined the spirit of Christmas before it even began.

uhmm.. not really. we dont get burnt out on christmas. we dont run out of christmas spirit even if we start as early as september. and we dont have thanksgiving day. ^__^ and summer has ended the month of May. we only have 2 seasons here, and its already the rainy season. ^__^

I never pay attention to images...it's alright.
This was my opinion. And "You" was a generic term not meaning you specifically or any one person in particular. It is MY feeling however and I know the feelings of other times.
I also never said anything about seasons. With the exception of the summery comment...and here in the united states of america, where i live, it is summery.
I just think it's ridiculous to celebrate christmas 3 months before the month the holiday is even in. That's like celebrating New Years in October. Or celebrating your birthday 3 months prior. Like my birthday is in May. I'm not going to start celebrating in February.
I think it ruins it. It's like those movies you watch...I know Huey Duey and Louie were in one. They wished it was christmas every day so every day they'd wake up and it'd be christmas and at first it's awesome and they're all abusing the heck out of it. Then... they realize...what the crap. Its not as special when you celebrate it every single day. It ruins that spirit that it had.
Being all "merry christmas" 3 months prior to december, makes me sad. Because frankly I like Halloween. I want to celebrate Halloween First. and I like the thanksgiving day parade that's a HUGE tradition to watch in America. If Christmas starts NOW.... Where's my halloween? where's my Thanksgiving? where's my time to gather up my anticipation for christmas and spend one month being super excited and enjoying the spirit.

HellO Kabayan!
You're bad! LOL! you're making me miss HOME more. Ohh... that's one thing that makes us Pinoys unique....LOL!! we have our "BER" season and we prepare for Christmas as early as September.
Well, that's one thing that I miss so much about Philippines especially now i'm miles away. Here there's no sign of Christmas, not because it's still September but the because they don't really celebrate Christmas here, well not that much of important. It's just different, how we Filipinos celebrate our Christmas. I love hearing Christmas songs and I love decorating, putting on Christmas lights. When i'm in Philippines we only start decorating after Nov. 2nd.. but when it's the start of "BER" season...christmas spirit is around already and I start going shopping just in case i'll miss some in my list.
Advance Merry Christmas to you too!

*hihihi* it's okay, It sucks actually that they don't celebrate Christmas here. I'm here in Bahrain, an arab country. They do put on some lights in December in the streets, not because of Christmas but because they're celebrating their National Day..*hihihi* Guess, the "BER" season is only in the Philippines.. *wehehehe*

I have not gotten out any Christmas decor yet, I can't do that. Halloween is my husband's favorite holiday so we must decorate for that one first! I usually don't get anything out until mid-November. Shopping is all year round for me though. I pick stuff up when I see a good deal. My family is WAY too big to wait until the last minute to shop!

Yes I love the ‘ber’ months too coz they not only herald the beginning of Christmas season, but here in India they are the beginning of the long festive season that is autumn. For us the festive season starts with the first ‘ber’ month and ends with the last one and Christmas. And then comes the new year, a new beginning!

Hi secretbear, hope all is well my friend!
I am not a big fan of the "ber" months because here in Canada they usually mean "brrrr" lol. We haven't started decorating for Christmas just yet, but I am really excited about it! It will be my daughters second Christmas (she will be 1 1/2 at Christmas) so that always gets me more excited about holidays! In the beginning of December I'm sure we will start to decorate the house, put up the lights outside, etc. We have however started the Christmas shopping because we don't want to be waiting until the last minute! Merry EARLY Christmas to you and your family!

hi purpleteddybear! (do you have a purple teddy bear or its your daughter that has one? ^__^)
thank you very much, all is doing well and im still in one piece, one piece body and one piece mind. LOL
oh yeah, you have the snow there and we dont. but i wish it will be colder here. im tired of the hot weather. its hotter than the usual because of the global warming so the "ber" season is very much welcomed to me. LOL
im sure you're very excited about your daughter because she's probably doing some "stunts" and a little talking and babies are just really cute when they do wonders like that. i experienced that with my nephew and i hope to experience it too when i have a baby of my own. ^__^

i have a friend too who loves purple! she just had her birthday last September 15 and i gave her a little doll with a purple dress. i wanted to put it in a purple paper bag too but the store doesnt have one. ^__^;;
oh well.. my plans would be to buy gifts for all of my godchildren and for my nephews, cousins and nieces, to my friends and to my officemates. there are too many of them but hey, what are those thrift stores doing right? ^__^;; spend christmas with my family, go to church and.. that's it. merry christmas to you too...
i have not yet started putting our christmas decors, i usually do it after the all saints day, on november 2....
my sister and i have been to a mall today, shopping clothes for her kids...not really xmas shopping but just shopping,,, hearing christmas songs on the background while shopping made me realize that christmas is really fast approaching,... i should be happy,,, merry,,, whatever,,, but, i'm not, only because it means i'll be celebrating the season without my husband, coz he's overseas, working, and without my father, who passed away almost two years ago...
so much for gloomy mood...
