Cant We love a freind who cares us much and If we love does it hurts?

I have a small(big for me) strange situation recently.I had a girlfreind who used care me verymuch.She used to show such a care that even i forgot taking a breakfast or a dine she used to force to have and she used to such an affection that i used to feel HER each and every second of a day.And this type of her attitiude pulled me towards her and i started loving her and one day i expressed it to her.At that time she siad that she didnt think in that way right now.But, my god i could not believe that from the next day onwards she even didnt had a glance towards me.I cant understand still now what went wrong.Is it wrong loving one who cares us?I too care her very much....Then which type of people should we love?
