Does your bank support illegal aliens?

United States

I have been reading up about Bank of America after learning that they give credit cards and accounts to people without SSNs- most of whom are illegal immigrants. After some research I found a site that lists all of the major banks in America that do and do not accept Matricula Consular Cards. This is an identification card issued by the Government of Mexico through its consulate offices. The official purpose of the card is to demonstrate that the bearer is a Mexican national living outside of Mexico. Similar consulate identification cards are issued to citizens of Argentina, Colombia, El Salvador, and Honduras. This card is not proof of being a LEGAL immigrant. Only a Social Security Card is proof. It is amazing how many banks are allowing this as a form of ID. And scary. This is the site: http://www.bankofamericaboycott.com/banklist/index.shtml Please note that they mention that this list may be slightly innacurate and that you should contact your bank directly to find out if they accept this form of identification in place of a SSN to gain an account. I live in Pennsylvania and have found that my old bank does indeed accpe these cards as a form of identification. If I was still with them I would close my account and tell them why I was taking my money elsewhere. I cannot knowingly support a business that supports illegal immigrants. Lucky for me my choice bank (Bank of Hanover) does NOT accept this form of identification. There are way too many companies that are supporting illegal aliens when they should be supporting the people who make their money! Find out if your bank is one that you can trust...
