Heaven and Hell

I often wondered how someone could be happy in heaven, knowing that one of their children was in hell. Once I heard a clergyman answer the question by saying that we would not remember anything about that child. I'm wondering where he got this information. Is it Biblical?

How could anyone possibly know that one of their children was in Hell? How could the Clergyman know we would not remember anything about our children? One thing you can be positive about! He did not get his information from God! God does not send Anyone to Hell. How could a Loving God condemn his Children to Hell? Does this make any sense to you? The Catholic Church invented Hell to scare their Parishioners and fill them with Fear so they would attend church and tithe every Sunday. And it worked! Be not afraid! Stay away from Religion! Be Spiritual! God Bless!

Hi barehugs, Thank you for adding to this discussion. I do consider myself to be spiritual, rather than religious, a word I really don't like. Blessings

Barehugs I beg to differ. You say that a loving God couldn't send anyone to hell but He can and He will. God gives us a lifetime to get right with him and accept Jesus as our personal savior. Everyday that we wake up is an extension of God's grace and mercy. It's up to us to get right. If we don't choose God then why should we let us into his kingdom?

I don't think it will be okay.but i also think from another paspective that it is possible for a fire to be burning both father, mother and children. The father will try to save himself first. So that is the kindom of god, everyman for himself,i think it will be okay for you to be on the better side first. Then you will be able to know what will happen to those in hell, maybe some will happy in heaven or not.

I don't think that is Biblical. We do not lose memory but our faith is primordial. God is No. 1 and we cannot save anybody. It is dependent solely to believe or not. And if it happens that the parent or anybody believes but the loved one does not, it hurts but we are helpless. When the 2 sons of Aaron were killed by God in front of them all, Moses told Aaron not to show any remorse or else he would be killed too. So it only means that if we are not happy with God, then our faith is lacking and we are short of the glory of God and God might throw us into hell to be with our loved ones there. So we have to choose - to heaven with God or to hell with our loved ones who did not believe.

Very interesting statement. I remember as a child I was taught, or at least assumed from what I was taught, that when we went to heaven we would meet all those that go before us. But at no time was those that may follow mentioned. Of course there are times when our children proceed us...heaven forbid. While I do not have your answer I would assume the clergyman may at least be partly right. When in heaven all earthly things are behind us and you would have to assume forgotten. Only one way for any of us to find out I am afraid.

Hi jbrooks, Thanks for commenting. Isn't it refreshing to think of how, when we were children, we didn't judge? We simply assumed that everyone went to heaven. Leave everything in the hands of a higher power. "Shall not the judge of all the earth do right"? Blessings.

God has all that taken care of. He has everything in Heave that will ensure our eternal happiness. It is so very important to teach your children about the Lord. No, you cannot make them give their lives to Christ, but you can instill the love of Him in their lives. Take them to church. Study the Bible with them. Talk about the love of the Lord with them. Pray with them. They will always remember this and will more likely give their lives to Christ. I've wondered the same thing before, but then I know that God is totally perfect in every way and He has everything in His control and we don't need to worry about our Eternity when we know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We just have to do everything we can in this life to help bring others to Him. God bless.

Its ridiculous... would any parent want to be in a heaven where their child, good or bad, had never existed?? Not MY idea of a Paradise!

I believe that is is. We will not know of pain and suffering says the Bible. That would inlcude a relative or friend being in hell. In Heaven we won't even remember the hurtful things that we suffered on earth.
