When you are going to travel to somewhere, how far in advance do you pack your things? Do you do it the night before or weeks before?
I like to pack about a week in advance of travel and then throw any last minute items in a day or two before. That way I have everything ready and I can relax before going on my trip.

It really depends if it's a long trip or a short trip. If it's a short trip, I pack like a day or two in advance, if it's a long one, then I might pack like a week in advance. Traveling can be tiring and I wouldn't want to be tired packing too, usually I take it easy and give myself a few more days to arrange the stuff I need.

Yes there is nothing worse for traveling then traveling when you are tired. I try to rest up before travel especially if I'm flying and changing planes a lot.

I generally pack 2 or 3 days in advance.. I sometimes pack just the night before as well, that adds to the excitement... Whenever I travel, I prefer to pack as little things as I can as it is good to travel light as u will be returning with more than u go with...

I pack very quickly but the planning what i have to take with me and what i will need is going on in my mind from 2-3 days earlier.I keep them ready in my mind and then work out quickly later on. No making of lists etc, I am very used to it and never forget important things to carry with me.

Are you kidding me? I pack just before I take off...LOL..Okay, maybe the night before but that is it..If I don't have it then I didn't need it..I used to take so much crap it was stupid..So now it is the bare minimum and I am on my way.

LOL me too! But I feel like if I don't bring all that stuff then what if I need it? Hopefully my Vegas packing will be much lighter, it is Vegas after all so I know it will be warm or hot by May what with the desert and all. I don't plan on needing too much of a variety of things.

LOL, I would forget 1/2 of everything. I do overpack, really bad!! My ex used to hate to travel with me because he'd always get stuck with my bags, hey they're too heavy for me plus that's what men are for, lol. I'll bring an exagerated amount of clothes, makeup, shoes and magazines. When I go to Vegas next year I'm going to try and tone it down, lol.

I try to get everything I can ready in advance, and I start planning almost as soon as I know I am going. Unfortunately, hubby is the opposite, and it is not unusual to get to the destination and find something is missing. For toiletries, I have an overnight bag that stays packed. I might have to throw in makeup. I keep extra razors in there, as that is one of the things hubby forgets. After having to borrow kneehis or hose from my sister in law more than once, I got to where I keep a couple of pairs of those in that bag as well. Shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, tooth paste, hairbrush, and skin care items all go in there. Immodium for hubby as he often needs it, and ibuprofen for me. I find this to be what really works for me. He will get the car ready, and do all of that stuff, but forget to get himself ready, so I have fallen into doing that. We never run out of gas, and our cars run and look fine on our trips. Never have flat tires. I still get a little frustrated with him. I have had to go buy him socks and underwear!LOL

I do the same thing with some toiletries or things I tend to forget. I was keeping them in my suitecase but after using and overpacking it in my last move... it broke and so I need new luggage. So right now I don't have anything packed but I do think it is a great idea to keep those things in a bad for easier packing.

The moment the trip is set in stone, I think about what I am going to wear.I make a list.I start from the top of my head and list everything I will need and I end with my toes. Then the night before , I pack everything on the list.

I make a list too as soon as I know that I'm going somewhere but I'll normally pack at least a week in advance.

I use to be like you and got ready well in advance. But now that I am married and have two kids I usually don't pack until the day we are leaving, sometimes the day before =) It is just too hard to figure out what everyone is going to wear and then I would have to hope my kids didn't find their bags packed and unpack everything by throwing it on the floor.

I can only imagine having to pack for 4 people, I agree it would be way too hard to try and figure out what everyone was going to wear.

I do not have enough clothes to pack a week ahead of time so I wait until the night before and do laundy so I can pack the morning I leave.

Wow I think if I did that I'd forget 1/2 of everything and end up there with like no pants but 10 tops or something, lol. I'm way too forgetfull and have to make a checklist right before I pack. I wish I could just pick up and go though, sounds fun.

I think it depends on how many days the trip is of. If it's a short time trip, I think one day in advance is enough. But if you plan to stay for a long time, it's better to prepare 2 or 3 days in advance to make sure you've taken everything needed.

In most cases, I start thinking about packing for a trip maybe 3-4 days in advance... in case there are clothes I want along that need washing, or something that needs finding.
Typically, I do most of the actual packing the day before-- if it's for a longer overseas trip, perhaps a couple of days before. On the whole, I have travelled so much that it's all pretty second nature to me.

It depends where are we going and for how long are we going to stay there. If it is just near and for just a day or two, I can pack my things even at the night before the day we're going to leave. And if it's for a long vacation or if we're going outside the country, I usually starts to pack my things a week before.

That would depend. If it's just a short vacation I can start packing about three days in advance. If it's a major move I think preparations should begin at least a month before.

I have a bad habit of waiting until the last minute and then I always seem to forget something.

I start by making a list. I ALWAYS have a list! I start gathering stuff about a week in advance, but I do the majority of packing the day and night before I leave. Although lately I have been traveling so much that I have been leaving everything in my suitcase, even while at home. I wash my clothes and put them back in my suitase! It is less work when I have to turn around and leave again!
