I answered to a previous discussion with the same subject some months ago, but it does not appear in "simmilar discussions" at the bottom of this page.
What I said then, and repeat now, is that it was a part of the Roman Empire and that nowadays romanian language is of latin origin, the same than Spanish, Portuguese, Catalonian, French, Italian and one of Switzerland's four languages. I know the capital city is Bucarest. Dracula is a character originated in a Romanian (Transilvannian) count. There are ethnics minorities of gypsies, germans, etc. There was a famous phisician woman, Dr. Aslan. Romania was at the top in artistic gym several years ago. During a long time it was ruled by a dictator, Ceasescu, which at the end was thrown away by people.

I don't know much about romania nor have I visited it but this is one of the places I would like to visit for the only reason that count dracula originated there? ^__^ I have always associated count dracula and the origin of blood-sucking vampires to romania and I would like to visit the the historical castle or the count. ^__^
I also wanted to have penpals from there but I haven't found one, or if ever I found one I hesitate to write for fear that the person wouldn't be able to receive my letter because I got the address from an old friendship book. ^__^

Last year I visited the beautiful city of Brasov. I really liked the medieval square with along the lovely looking buildings. Most of all I enjoyed going up on to the mountain and seeing it from so high up. I visited some beautiful castles. I also went to Sighisoara, a charming medieval citadel. I so enjoyed seeing all the historic buildings. lastly I enjoyed visiting Sinaia to see the stunning palace. It looked like a fairy tale castle.
I found it easy to find my way around with maps. I liked the train system very much indeed as they were cheap and full of friendly people. I liked the language and thought it sounded quite beautiful. I liked the rural landscape with all of the beautiful fields. I would like to go back there one day and see more places.

To be honest, not much really, andrejuly84, since I haven't had the opportunity to visit your country yet.
Nevertheless, if I'll be fortunate enough to be given the chance to come and visit there, I would most probably grab it so that I could experience the richness of your culture and see the true beauty of your beloved country.
If you have the time and if it's possible, kindly consider visiting my country (Philippines), too, so that you could also gather a thing or two out of your visit here.
Happy myLotting!

his name was ceausescu.you are right it was a difficult period for the people.now is still difficult to live here as the salaries are pretty small.a big part of the population works on less money, others don't even have a job.there are prices pretty big in comparation with the salaries, but for a man coming from out of it the prices are pretty low.but the country is beautiful,in special the villages, the views, the mountains, the sea,the Danube Delta which shame on me i didn't visit til now but maybe will visit it next year.i visited this summer a big part of the country,i saw very beautiful places,i liked the mountains and the people i found as we didn't plan the places we had to sleep and have to look for every evening and it was easy to find people full of hospiatlity.til now i didn't know how beautiful could be my country.

Nope, I haven't gone to Romania yet. I wish I could if my resources permits me. Maybe in the near future.
