I smoke a pack of cigarettes a day (20 cigarettes) and it does'nt seem to give any effect to my health. I have been smoking for 13 years now. I have been thinking about quitting too but... How about you?

I never smoked and not planning to .. it will affect your health yes.. but not in 10 years... there are many smoking related diseases which will not show any symptoms till they get really serious specially heart diseases and lung diseases such as heart attack , lung cancer, emphysema and many diseases from mouth to colon. but the sooner you quite the less likely you will suffer any of these diseases.

No I don't smoke and neither does my husband.
My father and mother did and wow....
My mother had a brain aneurysm and had to be suctioned because she was unable to breathe on her own. The stuff was BLACK. It should have been clear. It shocked and horrified me.
My dad was in perfect health. Heart was great, blood pressure fine, nothing wrong at ALL. He was almost 80 last year and choked on a piece of food which led to a small bout of pneumonia. He had quit smoking about 5 years ago but had smoked a long time before that. His lungs literally burst because they were so fragile from smoking. He would be alive today if he had quit when you did or never smoked at all. Instead, he drowned in his own blood. It was enough that I know my kids will never smoke and I am so grateful for at least that.
I am not all "If you smoke, you're bad". I believe it is a personal choice. But seeing what I saw and losing my dad the way I did does make me shudder when I see people smoke these days. I still believe people have a right to choose whether they do or do not smoke though as long as they don't blow smoke near me or my kids.
I wish you good health in whatever you choose to do!

This is horrible what happened to your dad. I have an event coming at work which is basickly meant to support quitting smoking. i'm thinking about taking this oppurtunity to quit smoking but i don't have to courage yet.
