Who Does Your Hair?

I used to sometimes do my own hair or go to the beauty shop to have it done. I always had a knack for making it look nice. Sometimes, theough, I just wanted to feel pampered, so I would have it done. My youngest daughter does my hair much of the time now. I don't usually fuss with it much-maybe just a ponytail. I was wondering how many of you do your own hair.

Hehe---I haven't had my hair "done" at a beauty shop since I was about fifteen years old. The reason? The very last time I went to get my hair cut they did such a hatchet job I vowed from then on to do my own hair...and uh looking at the greys that are coming in, I think it's time I did it again...LOL

Yeah, pyewacket, some of those places can really do a number on you. It reminds me of an experience I had when I was a young teen. My hair had always been worn long, and I desperately begged my grandmother to let me get it cut just a little shorter(while I was on summer vacation). After days of pleading, she finally relented on the condition that I just get a little of it cut. My older sister took me to one of the neighborhood barber shops. I noticed that she was sending some very distressed looks my way as I sat in the barber's chair. When the barber finished and handed me the mirror so I could see the back and front, I almost went through the floor. I knew that I was in for a killing when we got home-which my sister kept repeating. Suffice it to say that I delayed going home until my grandmother finally sent for me late that evening. My hair was so short there was barely enough to run the comb through. I thought my grandmother would have a heart attack when she finally saw it. She phoned the barber shop the next day and had more than a few choice words for them. Needless to say, my sister and I were placed on punishment for the rest of the summer. I couldn't wait for the day I boarded the Greyhound bus to return to Tennessee.(:

Well that time I had my hair cut wasn't THAT bad..not so short as yours, but I decided to have my hair cut in the "shag" style..remember that? Arrgghh...Looked hideous..couldn't wait for it to grow back--LOL

I always style my own hair, i like getting all girly and messing around with it. I never really go to the hairdresserd though, my mum cuts my hair for me and i colour it myself.

I think that most average people still do their own hair, hailie. Maybe it's just the rich and famous who go to the beauty shops on a regular basis.(:

I do my own hair, as of lately I have been letting it grow out and usually just wear it in a ponytail, I have bangs so I will trim my own, sometimes not doing such a good job, but thank goodness they grow out. I have not been to a beauty salon in years, what a treat!

I have not visited a beauty shop in years either, texas. Thank goodness I have a daughter to do it very nicely for me. On a daily basis I will usually put it in a ponytail, though.

I get my mother to do my hair since she is a hair stylist. I usally get her to cut it or perm it. Other then that I fix my own hair.

We are lucky when we have a family member that does hair, Shaun. I used to spend a lot of time on mine, but I don't anymore.

Maybe if I was still in high school I would actually get around to making my hair look all nice and pretty, but I'm just here at home so I just throw it back in either a bun or a ponytail. Heck even if I go out (unless it's meant to be a nice evening out with the hubby or have dinner with friends) I just throw my hair into a ponytail anymore. My hair is really long and thick, so it's a pain to do it up for just the simplest of tasks like running to the grocery store or some sort of errand like that.

I share your feelings, Jeweled. I stay in most of the time so I figure why go to all the trouble when I am usually home alone.:D

I get my hair cut every three months at the professional salon and the rest of the time I do my own hair. I have a very non-fuss style cause I just don't have time to mess with it.

I think that everyone needs a style that doesn't require a lot of fuss these days, Aurone. Most people are so busy that it would take too much time otherwise.

I have naturally curly hair and it is short so I don't have to have it done. I only go to the beauty parlour to have it cut.

You are lucky, naty. I love the short styles and would like to cut mine, but the children and grandchildren are against it. However, I will soon make my own decision, LOL.

When I was still in my school days, my aunts would love to do my hair and that of my cousin's. Both of us go to the same school & we usually have the same hairdo. They would braid it or tie it on both sides. When I grew older & my aunt had to work abroad, I was the one who do my hair. I seldom grow my hair long; but when I do, I tie it with a ponytail or braid it. After I got married, I had short hair which is above the shoulders, & I only use headband or just let it flow.

While I prefer doing my own hair, mykmari, it is nice to have someone else do it once in awhile.

i've to do my own hair :( ..currently my hair is curly as i permed it last year. occasionally when i want to style my hair, i have to put some curl enhancer lotion on my hair and twist and scrunch it, to define my curls. most of the time i'll just let my hair loose, don't really tie it. if i'm going for a function, sometimes i will use a curling thong. i wish someone would do my hair for me!

HellO! I have a straight, long black hair and I always wear it like that..just plain and simple. I do go to beauty salon every 3-4 months for trimming, hot oil or some cellophane to keep it shiny and healthy. Before it was my aunt who does my hair as she owned a beauty salon, she used to experiment on my hairstyles.. hehehe. But on daily basis, I do my own hair. ciao! =)

That's good, fab, I think all women should know how to do their own hair. I have four daughters, and taught them all to do their hair.

One of my daughters is a hairdresser, 3lilangels, and she complains that she never has time to do her own, LOL. So, when she wants it done she will go to someone else. All of my granddaughters can do hair(non-professional) but they won't go to school to get licensed.

I just have my stylist do my hair. I would screw it up if I did it myself and I would prefer not to do that to be honest.

I rarely go to the hairdresser and my hair does itself. I usually wear it in plaits or I put it high and catch it in a twist with a scrunchy. My hair is long and super thick. I had it tidied at the hairdresser a couple of weeks ago...she took off about an inch and charged me $20. It was about 20 minutes work....if that.

I'm fond of the plaits myself, MsTickle. I suppose you would call it my "signature" style. I wear it in two long braids-sometimes with a headband.

Every 6-12 months I go to a hairdresser and get it trimmed, relaxed/straightened, and styled. I maintain it by using those straightening iron to keep my frizzy hair looking straight. A lot of work at times but its nice that my hair is a lot mroe calmer than it was before.

I always have a hard time finding someone that does hair that I feel comfortable with and that does it the way I want. I found one woman last week, she's allright, she didn't cut the back the way I wanted and she made me a little nervous so I might try looking around again. !!HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!! **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~
