Learning to play bass the right way

I can play the basics in a way for eg I know the the position of the notes and can play the basic scale What I would like to start learning the basics the right way I can put in 1 hour of practice per day and am serious about doing so I wonder if it will help if to buy one of the learning softwares. One problem is that I dont have any friends who play the guitar around the place i live at present so in a way I have to learn by myself at home I live in Dubai
