My wife has this habit of giving alms to beggars everytime we go to church. She always sees to it that the amount she gives to beggars on the church gate would correspond to the amount she gives to the church. Do you also give alms to beggars ?

I believe that this is a beautiful thing that your wife is doing. Remember, it is not up to us to judge another's circumstances. The Bible says that if you have done it to the least of them, you have done it to me. Your wife will be greatly blessed for her giving in odedience to the word of God. It says, Give and it shall be given unto you. Good meassure, pressed down, shakened together and running over shall men give unto you. I think that if someone is willing to beg for something, they must really need it, but again, God is the only just judge.

i do but i choose whom i give alms with..some people in here are capable of doing work but just depended to beg for some alms to people..they are just lazy but i'm not talking in general some are not capable to work..so i'm just giving alms to old people who cannot afford to work anymore..to those who are incapable or say handcuffs..i also know i work hard for that alms i will be giving them so i see to it their worth it for my hard work.

Yeah, I have given alms to beggars, twice. the most recent, I was going back home, at night and was in town. I was immediately surrounded by homeless kids-and I had nothing to do. Its good, helping the poor.

Sometimes, we also have to see what the beggars are like. Some of them are very good at acting and most of the so called beggars are actually able-bodied which some they are willing to sit on a wheel chair to beg and after they got the money, they can stand up and start walking. Beggars? I think they are more of a cheat. Its a pity they are not in the media line.

I have seen beggars when we travel to another countries, but where we live there are no beggars. In all probability, though, I would not give alms to a beggar because as they say here, "if you give a man a fish, he can eat for a day, but if you teach a man to fish, he can eat for the rest of his life." Here, anyone who truly needs help can get it from social service agencies, which in addition to providing food and clothing and health care, also give people training to better themselves.

I choose beggars whom I will give. there are beggars who are still strong just lazy to work. When we give alms to those people who can still work even though they are old we just encourage them to be dependent to others and be lazy instead of working for their survival. There are many work every where, as long as it is not bad,go for it.
