Do you leave you child in the car?

I was just watching the news and another lady has left her child in the car for 8 hours and the child has deceased. I can't imagine leaving my child in the car for a long period of time or forgetting that my child is in the car with me. She is the center of my life. The longest I have left her in the car is for a couple minutes. Even at this, I left the car running (with air), locked the doors and kept looking out the store window to make sure she was ok while I paid for my gas. On a different note, I love animals, as a matter of fact I have a dog that I care about very much. The next news story after the above mentioned one, was about a Police Officer that had left his dog in the car and it is now deceased and he is being prosecuted. WHAT???? There is something wrong here!!! What are your thoughts?

As soon as I saw this story on the news, to put it nicely i was angered. How can someone needless to say an asst school princible leave there child in a car for 8 hours and say they forgot they were there. I am the mother of 3,and my youngest is just 3 weeks old. There is not a moment of the day I don't think of them or anything that would distract me that much as to forget where my child was.

OH MY!MY!MY!LOL.Im one of those paranoid mothers who has her 4 1/2 year old daughter glued to the leg.Ive never left her alone for even a minute.Especially in a car parked, you never know when someone will make a wrong turn and slam in the vechicle, someone report me for leaving her alone, hijackers and such. But the top thing i worry about,is someone else running into my vechicle with HER in it.It only takes a second.Better safe than sorry.:)

That is impossible for me to leave my child. It is a very irresponsible behavior. No matter what, your child should always follow with you in public. We have to pay attention and keep an eye on our child all the time to avoid any accidents. I can't imagine there is a reason that I will leave my child alone.

Depends on how old the child is. If it's a baby no way. I wouldn't leave anyone younger than six in the car by themselves. I think I was that old when my mother left me in the car alone but that was only for a few minutes when she ran in the store and I didn't want to go.

I would never leave my child un attended in a car for that amount of time I have left either my husband or my 14 year old son with my daughter in the van...But I have stood outside the van talking to friends with my daughter in the vehicle...I could never forget about my children as you they are the center of my life.

Hi there. Personally I never have and never will leave my children in a car for any period of time, no matter what... I know a person that did leave there child in the car and it ended up getting heat stroke and she was dehydrated, the mother was gambling, she has now lost her children to welfare services...

I can't think of anything that would make me leave my child or my animal in a hot car! I can't believe that people do not seem to learn. We see this time and time again every summer, and I have to stop and ask myself what these people are thinking. I saw in one post here about the guy who was in a strip joint, that is insane! He should be hung by his you know what and left to die! Sorry, a little harsh, but how irresponsible can you be! If you have something that important to do and you can't take your child, find a sitter!

Both my daughters are grown (20 & 22 years old) and have kids of their own. But when they were young I never left them alone in a car. And I can't believe it that anyone could be that cruel to leave a child alone in a car. I hate to hear stories about any cruelty towards children. It just makes me sick. How can anyone hurt their own flesh and blood, an innocent child?
