I am going to have some interpreting practice, I begin to feel nervous now. I always become nervous when I know something imprtant is to happen. At the thought of the very thing, I can not collect my nerve to do what I am doing now. I will spontaniously relate to that issue and keep thinking of the preparation for it. The more I think, the more nervous I get. I am not sure why so? It tortures me. How can I CONQUER the tension? Is there any one who can help me?

Hello, Michelle. I don't think that there is need for you to feel nervous. Just be brave and take the interpreting job with confidence. For sure you will be able to do the job well. I am often asked to do some interpretation for people. Sometimes I feel a little nervous before so many people at a big and normal meeting with government officials on the spot, but not informal interpretation. Though I feel a little nervous, I think that I can even do a better job. I feel that I am pushed by someone to speak better English before so many people and indeed it is such. So, Michelle, there is nothing to worrk about. I think that you can do a good job. Confidence helps you to be a successful interpreter.

I think you must be an excellent interpreter. I hope one day I can do a good job as you do. I think it is a good opportunity for me to know what actually I have learned at school and what I can put into practice. So I collect my nerves to ask the person in charge that I would like to take the job. But the problem is that I don't think I am an excellent interpreter as those professional ones. What I am worried is that some tough minites may occur and things may be in a mess, and if it happens, I'm not sure I can get them down.

Thanks for your nice comment and compliment, dear friend. In fact, I am not that excellent. But I love the job assigned to me. I hope that you will do your job very well as always. Good luck, friend.

What are you interpreting? If it is english, don't worry, just from what I see here, your english is just fine. An old trick to relieving tension and "stage fright" is to imagine your audience or in this caee, your subjects, in their underwear. It's a great tension breaker, lol;) relax, you'll do just fine good luck

I think nerves can be an important part of success, in a lot of areas they say it is the nerves that make you doubt yourself to make you do better, if you didn't have the nerves you may be so sure of yourself and maybe not try as hard...as an example I have heard very well known actors say they still get nervous before a performance and they have said it is a good thing, so I think maybe the same is for you...the nerves get the adrenaline going which will inspire you on...Good luck to you.
