Can Justine Henin beat Venus Williams tomorrow(Fri. 9-7-07) after beating Serena Williams in her last match to become only the second player after Martina Hingis to beat both Williams sisters in back to back matches in a major. Martina Hingis did it in 2001 when both sisters were healthy and Hingis was already having foot problems and in the brutal heat at the Australian Open. The matches and scores were:
Semifinals:
def. Venus Williams (3), 6-1, 6-1
Quarterfinals:
def. Serena Williams (6), 6-2, 3-6, 8-6
Henin beat Serena in her last match as she has several times this year but if Venus plays like she played against Ivanovic the other day, Henin is going to have her work cut out for her. I think she will lose to Venus and Hingis will remain the only woman to half beaten the Williams sister back to back in a major. What do you think.

Yeh, obviously she can and already has! she played great and there were some tense moments; but she pulled through in the end. I like her style of play; way better than yours mate.... straight sets she won in; so that is great. hope tomic looses! venus is going down the rankings and is not mentally strong enought these days

Venus did not play nearly as well against Henin as she did against Ivanovic. Normally I am not for either of the Williams sisters as they have always rubbed me the wrong way. But in the same vane I have never been able to generate any liking for Henin. So in this match the only reason I was for Venus was so that Martina Hingis would remain the only one to beat the sisters back to back in a major.
