Well, I've been freelancing on the side since 2000 and I finally landed a big job. It is copywriting 1000 pages of text and I'm going to get $5,000 for it. Yes, I landed my biggie and that is going to get me more biggies :) We both signed an agreement and off we go :)

congratulations, gingisnapz.
5000 dollars is too much. now i can get 30 dollars online per month. what kind of job is it? do you still write articles for the company? if so, it is a really good job for you.
thank you for your sharing, then i think i can have a bright future too.

Thank you :)
That comes out to be $5.00 a page. What I'm doing is copywriting financial documents for a website. I'm taking the financial terms and turning them into layman terms.
I am very excited because although it is a tedious task, I feel it is the doorway to more big projects. I am hoping that when this project is finished they will seek me out to do more for them since they pay well.

Oh yes. I've always had moderate success with it, but never had the time to dedicate to it like I do now. My husband is thrilled with me working from home now :)

I found it on one of the freelance writing sites. I submitted a cover letter, my writing resume' and three writing samples that dealt with investing, finances, and taxes. They are opening a site that specializes in helping people who are delinquent in their taxes.
They liked my resume' and my writing samples. He was looking for good grammar and knowledge of financial markets :) Luckily, I have experience with what he was looking for.

Thank you :) Well, because of this I am not going back to the job when my medical leave is over. I have made modest amounts of money before by freelancing and due to the fact I can do it full-time now means I can work in my home office now.
I've been doing another writing job for the past week and am doing very well with it. I don't want to bite off more than I can chew, though. I am going to designate certain times during my work day to do certain jobs.
I am so happy right now. Things have been so tough and now my dream is coming true. My book is coming out at the end of this month and now I am freelancing full-time. :)

Thanks a bunch :)
As far as your book goes, it can be a nervous process when looking for a publishing company. Just do what you need to do and you will get it published. I did a lot of research myself before finding the company that fit me best and then I had to wait for them to let me know if they accepted it or not. The great thing is that they did :) It'll happen :)

You'll do it. I am still at it and going strong. I stay very very very busy. It is something to be almost a year into writing being my full-time job. I used to write in addition to whatever my day job was, but now I have an entire room in my house that is my office and that is where I work around 12 hours a day. LOL

Well, that certainly demonstrates that persistence and hard work pay off. Congrats! I think focusing on your specialty (in your case, financial information) is the key to writing success for most freelancers. You really provide encouragement for those who are out there, still trying. Good luck with your writing, and remember, don't put all your writing eggs in one basket.

Congratulations to you! I would love to make that kind of money by working online as I would be able to be home with my kids and quit a job that I really dislike. I am just starting to look online for work and I hope that I can find something that I can do.

Wow! Congratulations! I would also love to concentrate on my writing. I've always wanted to become a full-fledged writer but it seems I lack time to practice or act on it. I really admire people who do write. Cheers! Wishing you more projects to come.

Thank you so much :) I appreciate your kind words.
The big project starts tomorrow, so I have got to figure out how to organize everything once I see exactly how long this is going to take. It is pretty exciting. :)

5000$? That's a wonderful amount of pay! How long do you think it will take you to get it all done?.. or well, how long did it take you to get it all done? I figure if you posted this three weeks ago, you should have it done by now! You should send me some tips for freelancing as i'm getting prepared to start doing a lot of freelance work. Well anyways, hopefully you find lots of other projects that pay as well down the road :)

Thanks Hon :)
Oh yeah, the writing career is still going strong. It has now been over a year. How cool is that?
I mean, I was writing before that, but landing that big job is what allowed me to not have to work outside of my home. It got the ball rolling and started a snowball effect :)

That's so wonderful. Congrats.
I can't wait for the day when I will be making loads of money as well.
For now, I am not making enough and the good thing is that my hon will give me at least $100 from each of his paycheck which is $200 a month I will get.
He works outside of the house while I am watching the kids.
My 8 month old is now sleeping and my 3 year old is out in the living room.
I can't wait to get my keyboard so then I can use my laptop to work on here.
For now, I have to use my hon's pc in order to do that and hating it now.
Don't forget to also do some other stuff in order to make more.
Spend that money wisely if you can.
Once it's gone, it's gone.
7 years of freelancing. Wow. I just gotten into it since jUly 26.

Oh wow. I totally lost track of this thread...but hey, 3 months is better than not at all.
My income varies, but it is quite good. I do my own marketing and work with clients directly, do work for other content companies, and do fun things like Mylot :) I've had months where I've made more or less. However, my business has turned more into an Internet marketing business than anything. I ended up legally changing my business name at the beginning of the year to reflect this change because there are around 20 services that I offer and I have 6 other people working for me out of their homes as well.
The business itself makes more money, but what I put down above is what I bring in personally. Last year in November the business brought in over $9,000, but after expenses and paying those who work for me, I bring in a modest and very comfortable amount. It is definitely a full time job. I have been known to work 48 hours straight to make sure work got out on time.
I had hit that big break two years ago because I had spent years putting together a credible portfolio to where I could start marketing myself to other businesses and convince them to take what I could do for them. It worked and so far it is still working, even during the recession. The recession has affected how I price. I notice I have to do a lot more negotiating, but companies out there are still looking for content producers and Internet marketers like mad.
