Hello!
This past few weeks my 2 yr old daughter had been asking me about her bicyle. At first I thought she'll forget about it, but oh my...I was wrong!*hihihi*
Her interest in bicyle really started when she's still a baby. My father likes mountain biking, everytime my father is back from his mountain biking escapade he would take her and let her sit on it, giving her a 'lil ride from the house gate to the garage. It's been like that 'til now. One day, my mother took her to the mall and when she saw a bicycle she straight away told my mother she wants one. oooppppss!! my mother said no! That afternoon I was chatting to my father and he told me about it. I do admit, I said no way, I feel that she's still too young to have one. Maybe when she's 3 next yr I will buy her one but not now, my father agreed as well.
But my firm "no" was broken a couple of days ago!*haay*. I was talking to my cousin online, then she called my baby telling her "mama has a bike...look baby" of course! in a zooomm! my baby grabbed the mike and said "mama, where's my bike? show it to me pls"....caught off guard I said "mama's hiding it baby, so be a good girl okay?" then she said "yes mama, love you"... I saw how happy she was on the webcam and I felt guilty because I just lied to her.
Next morning, the first thing she told my mother was.."mama's going to send me money, to buy me a bike..mama's going to buy me a bike mommy".. she was all bragging about it all day... when my father came home from work..she told my father to turn on the pc as she wants to talk to me about her bike..and she really did!*hehehehe*.. the first she asked me was.."mama where's my bike?".
So now, i've decided I will buy her a bike for Christmas as a present..but I don't think i'll be able to wait 'til then. I still feel that she's still young for it. But I already told her about it..that i'll give her a bike. I know there are bikes made for kids..small kids..the ones with 3 wheels. Right?
::::::::::
- What do you think?
- Do you think she's in the right age for a bike?
- How old was your child when you bought her/him a bike?
- Am I doing the right decision? I really feel guilty that I said 'yes' to her.*sigh*
::::::::::
I checked online about it, then I saw this photo of 'lil girls on their bikes (I dunno who they are)..this one made me really say "go for it"!
ciao!=)

We bought our son his bike when he was four with training wheels. It was sold to us by our neighbor and that was the only time he ever thought to ride one. We still use it to this day but he has not learnt to ride it without the training wheels yet. The decision is entirely yours but there are smaller bicycles for little ones. I think you should if she is going to use it often :)

I bought the bicycle of my child when she was 3. Its a kind of bike with 3 wheels. I guedd 3 is a good age to buy a bike... though its still advisable to keep an eye because accidents hap[pen and tehy are not that grown enough to think fast of what they should do.
Kids really love bike. Happy posting.

Well my kids both started off with tricycles when they were about 18 months then moved up to bikes with training wheels when they were 2 or so....

I have a 4 year old niece, that I remember we bought her a bike at the age of two. The bike we bought has supports (guide) in it, we also make sure that we assist her everytime. We taught her to maintain and keep her balance, so we won't fall down.
I think there's no problem with buying bikes for young ones, the only thing that you should worry are those who'll watch her!;)

There's nothing wrong with allowing a 2 year old to have a bike, you could buy a 3 wheeler OR a normal 2 wheeler with training wheels on the back - the sooner they start, the sooner they'll learn & love to do it! It's excellent exercise!
They make the 2 wheeled bikes here in Australia for children aged 2-5 (that's the lowest bracket i believe) - they come standard with the 2 extra training wheels on the back & when they have learnt to handle that, you teach them without the training wheel - it's really quite simple.
I know your concern but try not to hold her back from learning things early, if she's set on learning to ride a bike, you should be encouraging her, not worrying about her age! She'll be fine!
I've added a picture for you, it shows a child's bike with the training wheels on & then when she's a little older & more confident, you can remove them - it's kind of a safety thing for the younger kids!

HellO!
I'm actually miles away from my baby as i'm working here but I did ask my parents to go check in shops if there's one like that available, but I reckon shops sells those kind of bikes or tricycle. I'm really just worried and scared, but you're right that I shouldn't hold her back from learning new things early, she's really a very smart kid and an active one..she likes doing new stuff. Thanks for the idea. The photo helps too.
ciao! =)

My son got a tricycle for Christmas when he was a year and a half old. He got his first bike the next Christmas. It's a 2 wheeler with training wheels. It's nice and small, about the size of a tricycle. He's a little too big for it now, but he still loves it. He hasn't quite figured out pedaling yet, but he's trying.
