I would like to have opinions from supporters of theory of Evolution. What do you think? If our ancestors were great apes, why are toddlers smarter than apes?
Here is an article

Our ancestors were not great apes. Our ancestors and the great apes had a common ancestor. Our branch of the family got the brains. The other side got the good looks!

We do not descend from the apes that we know today.
It was a specific specie of apes which evolued into humans. Furthermore... we did not become intelligent overnight. It took thousand of years before we learned to do things... which is all part of our own evolution. And we continue to learn and discover new things everyday.
As for the toddler... he watch every move his parents makes and learn by example until he has enough information to think for himself.
So of course... it is a ridiculous comparison which proves nothing.
If a toddler watch everything his mother does...
And a monkey watch everything his mother does...
Obviously... the toddler will learn a lot more than the monkey.
The monkey only concern is to survive... eat and play.
The toddler on the other end is in the middle of an household full of materialistic goodies. And the primary concern of its mother is to teach him not to break anything.
So he is taught not to piss on the carpet... not to play with the TV, video, dvd, computer. Not to touch this... not to play with that... and all the time he is learning while the monkey is swinging from his tree. So why would the toddler not be smarter than the monkey?

The article mentions ..."As part of one of the social learning tasks, the researchers demonstrated how to pop open a plastic tube to retrieve the food or toy inside. The children watched and copied the researcher; the apes attempted to break the tube or pull it apart with their teeth".
In my opinion, if the apes were smarter than toodlers, they would have copied what the researcher already did. In fact, the apes couldn't do it. Furthermore, the article also says ... "The researchers chose to test human children at two and a half years old because that is when their physical skill level most closely resembles the skill level of a chimpanzee. The apes ranged between three and 21 years old".
You said "a monkey watch everything his mother does..." How about if a monkey has lived with humans in his entire life. Do you think the monkey is as smart as a toddler? After a long period of time, why the monkey can't think like an adult? We can take an example of a monkey that is born in the circus group.
We may have a different opinion, here. But I believe in Creationism (God created humans)
Genesis 1:26
Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."
Genesis 1:27:
"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them".
Genesis 1:26 said that humans will rule over everything. If we came from the great apes as said by Charles Darwin (theory of Evolution), we couldn't rule over everything in this world in this first place. Do you think monkeys, chimpanzees or apes can rule the world?

Well...well... Aussies2007 is getting pissed off (LOL). But anyway, I really appreciated that you had spent time to answer my question. Just want to let you know.... I asked a question because I would like to know people's point of view regarding the article.
I just don't understand why some people really believe that humans have evolved from specific species of apes.

1) I did read the article before posting.
2) I never said that apes were smarter than toddlers. How could they? I did say that it was a ridiculous comparison.
3) I explained that we do not descend from the apes of today... but from a specie which was human like to start with.
4) I knew you would bring God into this. Why ask the question if you only want to know your own answer?
