Establishing an identity - real name or pen name?

Okay, so I have three blogs with completely different content and I also write for Associated Content and Helium. I would like to use the same name for everything. I have had problems with spam and even a few stalkers in the past. The stalkers had nothing to do with my writing, but it has made me wary. As long as my real name is tied to the accounts, do you think it is okay to use a pen name or screen name to write my blog entries and articles? For example, I use Raredream for everything now. If I change, I'm afraid it will seem unprofessional. Please help. I don't want to use an actual name in place of my own. It's either my real name or raredream. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I think that writing under a pen name allows for a certain level of freedom of expression whereas using a real name creates a level of intimacy. It all depends on the content of your writing. Do people need to know your true identity in order for your writing to have validity?
