First of all, I love ice in drinks that should be cold, like cola, water, fruit juice and some alcohols (eg vodka, gin etc) with mixer.
Secondly, has anyone heard this¨: where I´m living (in the Canary Islands) they believe it is very bad for you to have ice in water and say it´s best drunk at room temperature. Any truth in this? Some waters taste vile if drunk warm. And it burns kcals (only like 1 or 2!) to warm icy water up to digest it, or pass it thru your system.

I haven't heard that it burns any kcals to warm icy water or to pass it. I have heard that the body does not absorb it as well, thus not efficiently hydrating the body, because just as the pores of your skin close up with the cold, it does the same thing on the inside. Sort of like ..it's hard to get inside the house when someone closes the door on you. Like constricting the veins won't allow as much blood to flow. That made sense to me.

I got used to drinking soda in Germany without ice and have found that it annoys me for a drink to be to cold now. I don't know how coffee and hot chocolate can be drank while so hot. I myself don't want to burn my mouth. I don't like juice to be warm but don't use ice in it either. I heard you should drink water cold after working out to cool the body down. What have you heard about that?
