What is ''ambition'' according to one is perceived as ''greed'' by another. Is there a very thin dividing line between ambition and greed?I suppose there is a lesson in the way you carry out your plans and achieve your ambition or how you react when your goal is not reached. ''

I tend to agree that everything is a matter of degree. Ambition in and of itself is not something to be avoided. However, if the ambition is fueled by greed or a need to ride rough shod over everyone as ambitions are fed then I would have to say it would be put into the negative results category.
Greed...well that is a whole other ball game. I cannot think of any incident where greed ends up in any way other than causing harm. Those who are driven by greed are not thinking in terms of what serves the greatest good of the all.
Those who live by right principles can and do pursue their ambitions without causing harm to others and in that case I will say ambition can be good.
Interesting discussion...thanks for posting it. I love topics that make my 'thinker'...think! Good one!
Warm regards,

It depends on how you get it or reached your ambition..for me it only become greed when you come to the point when you need to hurt or to step on someone's right just to reach you ambition..just reach your ambition in a nice way and use is as you motivational factor to work hard and be succeeded..have a nice day...

ambition is good if it is driven with good intention, and if you always put God in center of all your ambitions.. if you didn't met your goals, don't be frustrated, failure is another way of God saying take another direction and move on..

Ambition is not greed.but over amibition might be greed.to aim for what is within a person's reach or to aim for something that would strecth the limits of a person may be called ambition.but to have the aim to reach what is impossibe is greed.
As you have said every person has a different view of ambition and greed.so it is for the person to decide what to go.if you feel that you ought to pursue a thing, you should go for it,no matter what others think.

I don't think ambition is good or bad either way. I mean if you are ambitious to do good and you are motivated to ensure that all your actions help as many people as possible then ambition in this case is clearly a good thing. However, if you are so ambitious that you become willing to hurt other people then ambition is not good.
Furthermore there is the issue of extent. If you have no ambition, you are likely to do nothing with your life and not be interested in contributing towards society. However, you can have too much ambition to the extent that you lose all moral perspective and end-up making yourself and other people utterly miserable.
I think its good when people have something to drive them forward to do certain things with their life. But its not always a bad thing when people are content to be where they are in life.

I think a person has a ambition is better than a person who has any dream or ambition! If you have a dream or ambition, you will work hard inorder to realize your dream! If you do not have any dream ,you will feel depress, because you do not know what should I do in all my lefe
