we all know that some people do keep a diary of their daily happenings and that have went to a whole new level with internet blogging. but the question I am about to ask is this. do you keep a food diary?where-in you write what you have eaten and its calorie content, wherein you write down every bite you put into your mouth, including gums and breath mints. making notes about your attitude and energy level at each meal. personally I dont have a food idary but I have a diary though, a prayer journal too wherein I write my prayers and also write the dates when they were answered. do you have a food diary?

I use to keep a food diary, which did help me keep track of how much food I was consuming each day. The real problem was remembering to list everything I ate when I was out to dinner or at a friends house. I did lose weight and have kept the weight off.

although i have learned from you that keeping a food diary maybe one of the best ways which can get my weight down, still i can feel within me that i will find it with some degree of difficulty to keep one. i used to frown at those who keeps diaries and records of events of their daily lives and now, i am proven to be the one in the wrong track. i really don't know if ever i will be able to muster sufficient patience to do so after years of being never that way, that is, keeping records about events of my life.

to fishmomma: that is one success story you got on keeping a food diary. thank you for your testimony. of course, there would still be lapses on food intake especially food intake at parties. but we could have this improve the more we get the groove of writing and recording our daily intake.

to trinidadvelasco: you can do it. you can have the patience to have a food diary. just do it one day at a time. after every meal, or before going to bed write down what you have eaten for the day. it is just that easy. one day at a time.

this is where i have failed in all respects. i never keep any diary nor any journal where i jot down whatever important event had taken place in my life. i have just learned that i have lost so much for being like this. a doctor once asked me if i kept the records of my son who got afflicted with leukemia and who has miraculously recovered from his illness at a time when the doctors had given up on him. the doctors only gave him then at the height of his illness less than a week more to live. now, he survives and the doctor says he has recuperated well and the nerves, bones and muscles shall have to be attuned through the services of a good therapist. a doctor approached me and asked me if i had kept records of how the medical treatment of my son went through and what were he taking that led to his getting well. i felt so sorry that i cannot present any medical record nor how i went through about during those years. i can remember though the important parts yet, my son sometimes corrects me. he would tell me that i am remiss on some points. good gracious, i never had any idea that my son's having survived through the kind of care that i gave him would spell a lot of difference to so many people.

yeah there are times that we discover some of the advantages of writing down in a journal. your story is one of the disadvantage of not writing. your child's miraculous recovery is a testament of God's goodness but you could not recall the exact details of the recovery since you have not been in the habit of writing down important things in a journal. so are you writing in a journal now?

I have in the past. It really ups your awareness of what you consume. Sometimes we don't realize things. Its also good to write down behaviours and thought patterns around the food to figure out any patterns. This is a really good topic - good for you for clearly defining what a food diary is for those who don't know. I want to start a gratefullness diary-lists of things I'm grateful for each day. I love the idea of your prayer journal - so unique - and so wonderful that they were answered and you recorded the day they were fufilled. I believe in the power of prayer. Sometimes our prayers our fufilled in ways we wouldn't expect. Sometimes we get it in ways we really need rather then what would we want. Anyway great topic rouwel23!

yup. it is a very revealing journal. we do not know what is really happening until we jot it down and read it for ourselves. that is a nice idea to write a gratefulness diary. it is a thank you book. to give thanks to your maker how grateful you are. I believe in the power of prayer too. prayer changes things. when we pray, God works. that is the miracle of writing it. to be concern of the details of how our prayer is answered we see how God is working. thanks for your compliment.

Food diary ? Well, to be honest this the first time I heard people use food diary to keep track of the calorie intake and I can see why it is good idea if you are on a diet but then again it is better to just avoid food that are high calorie and eat more vegetables . I personally think that it too troublesome to keep track every single bite that you put into your mouth. If you want to be healthy just do exercise regularly and eat healthily.

of course you do not want to be troubled to list down every single bite that you put into your mouth. but this could really help. there might be things that could surprise you still. there might be lapses and moments of weakness. but we should continue to exercise regularly and eat healthily too though.

I keep a food diary, as I'm on a healthy eating and exercise plan to help me lose weight. I use fitday.com, which is absolutely brilliant. It has thousands of foods on the website so you don't have to faff around figuring out calories. I find it is really useful and helps me keep track of my eating habits. It also lets me put in my exercise so I can make sure I'm burning more than I'm consuming. x

I dont keep a food diary, but im thinking about starting one. I dont really know what good it does, but i think it would make me feel like im in control of what im eating. Almost like if i write it down than ill try and eat less. I dont know. But its a good idea.

It would be a revealing thing. you will found out what goes in into your stomach and your diet. as the saying goes, you are what you eat. It would be a good idea and you could help yourself.

I dont do it anymore. I am much healthier then i was before. Hopefully i can take the weight off after i have my baby. =)

Hello rouwel23, I have known about food diary for a long time but I don't have one. I guess I just don't want to keep track of what and how much I am eating, and be shocked of what I'll see. LOLz :-) I think its a good idea to have one specially if you want to monitor you diet and health. This way you can keep track of what and how much your are supposed to eat. It helps also that you won't need much time to think what to eat or order when your going to have a meal. :-)
