There was another fire tonight

It was even bigger than the last one, with thick black smoke billowing in the sky. Fortunately it wasn't in the field I live on. Though either way it wasn't good. It was hard to tell, but it was possibly the old nursery that is a little ways down the road. Just like when there was a fire in the field I live on, there were a ton of fire trucks. The only difference was that the helicopter made several passes dumping water on the flames (it made only one pass with the previous fire). My landlord was a little nervous that it was going to jump the street and go into her field (the wind was blowing the smoke and flames towards it), but the firefighters put it out before it got a chance.
I sure hope no one got hurt in the fire...

I am sorry to hear that. I hope the fire will be put out soon without anybody getting hurt. Meanwhile I am happy that it is far away from where you live. Be blessed.

With all the fire trucks and helicopter the fire was put out in no time. Though it wasn't all that far from my home. The helicopter in the picture was taken from my backyard and it was so close that while I was inside my home my house shook and the windows rattled.

Wow, sacmom. I didn't know there was one earlier in your field, but just the same to see one so close to your home can can scary.

It is very scary when something like this hits so close to home. I remember having to knock on doors many years ago at the apartment building we lived in due to a small fire. That was scary enough even though it was a small fire.

I was on vacation for a few weeks in the LA area. The fires out there are an everyday thing. The land is so dry, its got to be scary to live in some of the hills. Cal. needs rain so bad, its a big fire hazard out that way. I don't know if this is the area you are talking about.

No, I'm not in southern CA. I'm in the northern part of it. In the area that I live it has a lot of dried fields, so it is prone to fires.

I probably have missed a previous post about fires. Do they know why they are starting? Is arson expected? Or is it just that you are in such a drought condition that they start kind of spontaneously? I know that being near, smelling the smoke and hearing the sirens just makes your heart pump. I think it is wise right now to be proactive and get the helicopters involved and to go all out to stop the fires before they spread completely out of control. I hope you keep well, and well away from danger. Try to not breathe too much of the smoke.

I'm in a dry area with fields all around so fires are bound to happen. Though I'm not sure how this particular fire started as it was a building, not field.
I hate it when I hear sirens going by. It's even worse when those sirens are for something so close as this. :(

I'm glad no one got hurt! It's just ironic because hubby and I were talking about field fires just last night. Driving in the state of Iowa, one may notice that the corn is drying up (nicely, I may add.) and it's remarkable that you don't SEE fires in fields. I know they happen, I remember you posting about it before, but it isn't as often, and not nearly as scary as those forest fires we always hear about.

My sister lives in San Diego and say the smoke is affecting her area as well. It's a shame that there are so mnay devasting events all over the world. Especially the fires all over the world. I only pray these are oput out and under control before there are too many deaths and losses of home & property. God be with all in this area.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~
