I am sitting here patiently aiting for my daughter & grandsons arrival. We are finally going to pick the apples from my trees out back. My oldest grandson last year was upset he didn't get to pick any apples and especially since he didn't get any to eat. So I have to have them over for this. I think it may become a family tradition. I'm hoping it does anyhow. I have a recipe I got from a friend here on myLot that I will use. Going to try and bake a couple things this week drom the apples. So I sit here waiting for the kids to get here. Staring at the tree I just want to go pick them and start coring and peeling etc. Hahahaha!1 HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

That's one of my favourite fall activities. My husband especially enjoys it because he gets to eat the apple crisp I make. I hope you had a good time doing it, because I see now that you probably did it yesterday. I have to wait a little bit though before I enjoy baking, till it is a little cooler, then I feel like doing it.

What a wonderful family tradition to start. Your grandson will love it. You are a really good role model for them with your growing and your positive attitude, and taking them to do fun things. Have a wonderful time, throw a pinch of cinnamon in for me, I am pretty sure your recipe will call for it somewhere. LOL

Thanks. There's a big Haloween festival at the nature center near me on Oct 20th that I may take them too. A haunted trail through the trails, treat bags, live music, crafts to do and a lot more. And only $5 a person too. Lot's of cinnamon actually I love that spice. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Sounds like a fantabulous new tradition! Those are some of my favorite memories... sitting in the tractor bucket, being lifted up into the tree and picking everything we could reach. (it was a big tree!) I suppose if OSHA were around we'd all be in huge trouble! LOL! Enjoy the day, enjoy the kids, and most importantly, enjoy those blasted apples!!! (can you save me at least one???!!)

By now the apples are picked and cooked I hope. I am so sorry I am late with this post. I hope you enjoyed the day with the family. My twin sister has an apple press and they make their own apple cider. She said that the apple cider this year is so sweet. I will be going to see her on the 29th of this month so I will let you know how good it is.

When I was little we would pick apples then this lady would make apple cider out of them..They sure were good. They had the apple orchard right there so all we had to do was pick the apples. Happy pie making and all the other goodies you will be making..
