Is it alright to make other money at your "real" job?

I work in an information technology room, which the majority of the time I can screw around. I heard we have a filter or a spy program to monitor our internet activity. Other co-workers check their stocks and read the news. They do not seem to care if the filter is on, real or working. So, what should I do?
