So I watched the 2007 MTV VMA Awards tonight and I couldn't get over the fact that almost every single female artist & starlet has put on quite a few pounds. I'm excited!!! I think it was more than just the whole "camera adds 10 pounds" thing too, it was more like 25+ pounds and a side of thunder thighs!! I'm cool with it though because being a big girl myself this means one thing... I'm taking my phat a$$ to Hollywood and becoming a star! Ok.. maybe not but I'm still excited that these chicas are getting on the oreo bandwagon and realizing that real woman curves are the sexiest think a woman can wear. And the guys were hardcore staring and looked pretty damn excited to see those curves. So what do you think, is this new curvy trend the way to go?

I think so and I know it will come back! I am so tired of seeing those sick skinny people out there. I love seeing curves and I love it in a healthy way. They have put those plus size models on the runway earlier and I am sure it will be a come back! Well, at least not skinny thin!

I hope it does! I'd rather see a woman with real curves in a magazine than some unhealthy image that we're supposed to try and be.

Hi there. AS a woman of size, it is nice to see that stars are starting to get more comfy in their skin, and nourishing their bodies well. Britney looks hot with curves! So do a lot of these women. As a body image activist, and a fat activist, I have to say that I hope this trend keeps up. Young women especially need more role-models who are average size and even fat and fit, etc. It is a shame that we've been so concerned with weight, and Hollywood perpetuates the myth that only superthin women (who look like little boys) are sexy. CURVES are sexy. Women's bodies - with all our gorgeous flesh - are meant to be soft and round. By the way, not everyone who is fat eats oreos and bon bons all day long. Some of us are concerned with having a healthy lifestyle, which includes eating right and exercising. Stereotypes are what keep people oppressed!

Hi again....I was impressed with your response to my comment, actually! I understand completely taking steroids (prednisone in my case) and how it affects weight. I gained almost a hundred pounds on steroids. I've been on and off them over the years for severe rheumatoid arthritis. And actually, because of the rain in this area, I'm having a terrible flare right now, and the only way the swelling in my joints will go down is a steroid taper. I've been on a low-dose for a while, now it is time for a high-dose. Grrrr, I hate em! Your ex sounds like...somewhat of a pig! I don't mean to be rude, but I think you could definitely teach him a thing or two about what is truly sexy. And you have the brains to back up any debate you'd get into with him too. I hate fashion magazines. The only magazines I buy are ones that are political, or ones that will go the extra mile to show a sexy body that is not waifish! That's my two cents...nice to discuss this issue with you!

Thanks, I've enjoyed discussing it as well. For so many years I hated my body and got into relationships with all the wrong men for all the wrong reasons. Like my ex (and you're so right) who's love I never doubted and it's what allows us to still have a friendship today but who was so conerned with appearance and being everything his friends expected of him that after buying a ring he didn't propose because I wasn't the size 0 girl that everyone thought he should be with despite what he himself thought. He only recently fessed up to that being the reason and I told him that not only was it sad that he was living his life for the eyes of others. But also that is was unfortunate that all of his friends were blind and I asked him if they'd all suffered some sort of accident. He asked why and I told him all matter of fact, that they must have all lost their sight because anyone with eyes could see that I was hot. I think it's important that woman of all sizes realize that just being a woman is beautiful and that letting their bodies take their natural form is normal. Nature knows what looks good, it's why we're given curves in the first place. Prednisone and I have a love hate relationship, I hate having to get on it whenever I need it and it loves to make me gain weight that I can't get off. It's also caused me a whole mess of other complications too. I just wish that more doctors would be up front about the side effects, I learned about it online, none of my doctors in all my years have ever mentioned it having any negative effects. Such is life, right? I hope you feel a lot better!
