Okay before watching this movie, and judging from the preview and the poster, and the cover on the DVD, I had figured that it would be one of those movies like "the chronicles of narnia" or " Harry potter" with its fantasy but real world in the movie. Of course i love both those movies, but when I saw this particular movie, I realized that it wasn't like those in any way.
In fact it was a movie about a more real world, where the world of imagination and a very special friendship also exists.
By the end it was so heart-breaking, but I don't wanna give out any spoilers so I won't say much about it.
I'll just say that it was a wonderful movie and it has earned its way into my all time favorite list of movies.
So, if you haven't seen it yet, then I strongly suggest it, so that we can talk about it here.
And if you have seen it, tell me how you liked it.

I haven't seen it yet, but it's my directors selection on Disney Dvd club and I'd really like to get it and see it.
I'm glad you didn't post spoilers cause I hate that. I also never like to read others reviews cause I think most of the time people are wrong. Ha ha. BUT maybe you're right cause I think the movie looks really good and I don't think it looked "harry potter" or "chronicles of Narnia" persay but I think it looked like the kind of movie I like in those types of movies.

Well, I had only seen one preview of the movie and in that it looked something along the lines of "chronicles of narnia" type, but I'm glad that it wasn't, even though I like Chronicles.
I agree with the whole review thing. I don't believe in them especially the negative ones, because most times, the movies that my friends like fail to impress me, and the movies that they said were junk actually turn out to be good.
You would never find me bashing any movie since I strongly believe that we all have to watch and judge for ourselves. Of course, if I really like a movie I think it's okay to recommend it to others, so that they too can decide for themselves.
Let me know if you like it when you see it.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about, when I go to see a movie I have an open mind. Sure I've seen some bad movies, but I don't consider myself a critic, even a bad movie has a lot of hard work put into it, and seeing as I also want to make a movie in the near future, I don't think I would wanna be a critic.
People always judge too soon, that's what I feel, and now they've made me judge them, ha ha, damn people!

I understand what you mean. I'll probably get it end of the month/beginning of October. We'll see. I buy movies all too often :\ when I shouldn't be spending the money!
I just love my movies. That's also why I'm so picky about reviews. I just hate when people insult things I like. and it's because I'm such a movie geek, I see things that other people don't see. I see things for more than entertainment value...which a lot of people don't see.

Other than the ending, I absolutely adored this movie. It was definitely heart breaking to say the least. It was such a beautifully done movie and nothing like I expected it to be. i rented it for my boys and watched it after my hubby (yes my hubby) told me what a wonderful movie it was. He is not a kids movie type of person, so if he said it was a good movie, then it was most definitely a good movie. Two thumbs up from me.

Well, I guess the ending had to be like that, otherwise the movie wouldn't have such a huge impact, I mean sure it was heartbreaking, but then in a way, it was also a happy ending too, when it comes to the brother and sister and that's when the whole "bridge" thing comes into perspective. I loved it.
yeah, you're right, it's the kind of movie that people who don't enjoy kids movies would also enjoy. I told a friend about it and she said it's a Disney movie and so it will be kiddish, but I told her that it's not like that at all.

The movie was alright but not as good at The Chronicals of Narnia.I liked that movie.I thought it would be like or almost like The Chronicals of Narnia but wasnt .PLus I didnt like the way the story ended. It was sad and made me want to cry.I kind of wished it would have ended differently. And not have the sad part in it.But I guess some stories surprise you by the ending as its not always a story without sadness in it.But I guess a teenager or child might have liked it more than me as well as some adults but I guess it didnt really live up to my expectatons of the ending. It doese have a good moral to the story though.

Well, moral, I wouldn't know about, I don't think it was very moral oriented. I guess I loved it so much because as a kid I had an active imagination. I still do and sometimes I'm living in my own dream worlds, that's why it really connected with me. I did initially think that it was a chronicles of Narnia type, but after I saw it I don't think that those two movies can even be compared, since they are such different genres.
you're right, the ending was surprising, but I guess it was necessary.

I mean good morals as in the boy hardly had any friends and the new girl had no friends since she was new and different and he became freinds with her.It shows that people can be different but still have a good side to them and also be the same as you and me.

Hi vega83, I would have to agree with you that this movie is fantastic! I would definitly recomend it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet. I borrowed it from a friend this weekend, she said she really enjoyed it, but to make sure I had kleenex handy. Needless to say I'm glad I had that kleenex handy as parts of it are very heart breaking! 2 thumbs up in my books!

It was a great movie! My sons read the book before they watched the movie. A few other great movies with books for the age group 8-11 are holes and hoot. I loved both of those movies as well. They are a little older but hey you can rent them now!

I had been warned what to expect, and that it is not quite the movie you might expect from the trailers. To be honest, I found it a little corny and the ending kinda jarred with the rest of the movie. Some nice scenes with just the kids though. Definitely an interesting movie, in terms of generating a discussion.

Well, I loved it, it was really refreshing and it kind of made me wish for a childhood all over again, I loved imagining things as well, and I loved the special friendship that they had in the movie. I totally connected with it. Of course, you are more than welcome to have your opinion.

I also liked the themes of friendship and imagination, and the girl was particularly cool.
