Should you buy Tylenol or medicine on Ebay?

Awhile ago, I was surfing around Ebay and found someone actually selling Tylenol and other readily available over the counter medicines. Nothing prescription, just the stuff you could get at your local pharmacy off the shelf. I didn't even know it was legal for a regular person to sell that kind of stuff on Ebay.
Anyway, I was wondering, do you think it's a good idea to buy medication from a stranger on the Internet? I don't think I could do it. There's no way to know if the medicine has been tampered with or if it's even the real thing. And, little recourse if they are sending you the wrong stuff. What do you think? Would you buy medicine from someone selling it on Ebay, if it were much cheaper than your local pharmacy?

Nope! I wouldnt buy medicine from ebay. I dont know the other person and what if they add something bad to the pills? What if its not even the right pills? I just couldnt do it. My health and my childrens health are more importiant than saving a dollar or two.

Hey, right on, to each his or her own, but it is legal and sold all day, all night long..I know stores who have pharmacies have had and sold tanted tylenol in the 80's and there have been countless other cases that arn't as famous....ebay has no cases pending or in it's past for this kind of activity. If it comes in packaged up, without any type of tampering, it's probally safe, but I'm not disreguarding your opinion either. As the times change, our way of buying things will change, as they already have. Soon one day, our population will be so great that I personally think it will probally be alot quicker, more convient, and more accepeted to shop online for everything.

Someone was actually selling medicine over ebay?! Oh my word! I wonder if Ebay realizes this. There have been times odd things have been for sale on ebay, and once it hit the news, ebay took the items off because they didn't even know they were listed. I would report this. Anybody could add something to that medicine. If they used a needle to inject something, you really wouldn't even be able to tell because they used something that leaves very little notice of trace.

Thats why you, as a parent should always inspect everything that you give your child. Do you purchase medicine from the store and not check it? In the 80's there was the tylenol posining that went on and was sold out of many reptuable stores. Whats the difference in the threat? You get what I mean? It's sold daily online, at a convienent store which could be ran by some racest foreigner, or at a big name location which could also have tampering. You get the product, check the product, and if you personally think its ok, you use it, If not..You report it.

Over-the-counter store medicines can be just as tampered with as those that are sold online. Really if one wants to get right down to it, nothing is really safe, when someone is intending harm on others. One just has to do there homework and check out the seller thoroughly before purchasing anything online or heck even in stores for that matter, than once the item is brought into the house check it over to make sure it hasn't been tampered with.

No Way!! People could put anything in the bottle and you wouldn't know it!! I am up for buying most things on the internet but not medicine, I just wouldn't trust it. I would rather pay a higher price and konw things are safe, especially with kids medicine and stuff. That is too weird, I have never searched for medicine on Ebay, I just couldn't do it.

If I go to the store I can check it out before I pay for it, if I buy it on Ebay I can't. You did raise a good point, but you don't need to be so snotty about it. Goodness...

Again, read the above posts and then take a moment of silence to remember the last time you thourally checked out a bottle of anything you bought from the store. And yes, you can see puncture marks, broken seals, and other problems....IF YOU LOOK FOR THEM. If paying a higher price means saftey, then your either poor from shopping this way, or very rich and can afford to shop this way. Cost does not ensure saftey and neither does shopping from a big name store. They have had more problems with tainted meds comming from a store than from ebay. Show me a story about a child getting sick or worse from a parent shopping for a pre-packaged medicine on ebay. I could email you many, many, situations about this happening with big name stores where you pay the extra buck for that extra helping of saftey.

My point is that I'm soooo sure you check out every product you purchase at the store. And saying that paying a high price ensures a safe product is just funny to me. I do apolige if my truthful comment offended you, I guess my straight foward answer was a little to real for you. If you don't feel comfortable shopping online for meds, I can see your point also. You don't personally know that person all the way across the earth. But do you know the chain of command that the meds you purchased fell through? Many people came in contact with that and some were not screened. The truck drivers, the stock persons, the people who have touched this product is beyond your control. I also examine every product I get and always will. Punctures have a withdrawl mark they make and if you hold them to a lamp (Which I do) you could see any holes or perturesions in the packaging. Again I'm sorry if I offended you.

My baby had colic really bad when he was younger and Milicon is like $10 per bottle. We spent so much money on it, we decided to look at getting it cheaper. We began buying it on ebay and it came in the package, way cheaper (With shipping costs too) then buying it at Walmart. Check the sellers rep and if its good, I would personally do it. It saved us alot of money and was very convienent.

I would never buy medicine from the internet expecially if its not directly with a pharmacy I just dont feel right about that. Now days you can buy anything off the internet. I am not a big internet buyer as it is (I like to have the product infront of me when I buy it call me old fashion) with medicine I want to get it starte from the shop or pharmacy that way I am sure that I am getting the right thing.

Honestly I would never buy anything like this from e-bay- I can't even imagine bidding on tylenol online- Why wouldn't the person just go to the store and pick it up- instead of bidding and winning and then waiting for it to ship- Man I'd have head ache by the time it got to me.
I didn't know it was legal to sell through e-bay either- You;d think e-bay would stop that- Just for the reason if it was the wrong stuff- someone might try to sue e-bay!

Personally I wouldn't buy any form of medication from eBay or any other online sites. You have no guarantee that the medication you order is genuine or has been tampered with in any way. Fake medications are dangerous too, and although it costs more to buy over the counter, at least you can be sure that you are getting the right thing.

Never! I think it is important to know if you have the proper medicine in the right strength and I would never trust someone I had never met with something that important! I would rather stick with my trusted Pharmacy than the internet for this type of thing! xxxx

NO, definitely not.
I would only but medicines at a local farmacy, I don't trust any other.
Health is not something you can be cheap with, We only have one body to use in our whole lives, so let's take good care of it, make it last longer!

Hey! You don't have to be so aggressive about it!!!!
I just don't agree with you, call me paranoid, buy I like to check all medicines by myself. And if there's anything I don't trust, I don't buy it. With e-bay (or any other online stores) you already paid for it, and then you would have to fight to get your money back.
About reporting it, as you said, I live in Argentina. getting my report somewhere useful to society would get ages. I'd do it, of course, but nothing would change for a decade or so.

Ever hear of the tylenol posioning in the 80's. It was becaues tylenol was being sold online and many children became ill or worse. O..my bad...that was out of stores that we all shop at and are suppost to be trusted. How well to you check your things you purchase in person?

I don't think I could do it. My stepfather has bought stuff like that online I think with no bad results. They were weight-loss pills I believe.
Personally though I don't think I could trust someone that much. Who knows what kind of sick people would love to poison others? Not in this day & age would I take such a risk.

Tylenol and aspirin are things that I don't really think of when going to Ebay. Didn't even realize it was sold there until this post.
However, I wouldn't have a problem getting it from there or anywhere online for that matter, as long as the seller was reputable and could be trustworthy. It would nearly be like getting it from your local store. Considering the fact that even when purchasing medicine at the local store you won't know whether it has been tampered with, until you get it home and have the chance to thoroughly inspect the product for tampering.
