I swear we get so much junk mail it is driving me crazy. I heard that anytime a credit card company sends you a thing in the mail that they have checked your credit. Well, we get them all the time and if that is true I don't want them checking my credit like that all the time. Sometimes me and my husband both will get it from the same credit card company on the same day. How can you stop getting so much junk mail? I just hate it.

Well, it is not truth. Every time you get credit card letter from any kind of company doesn't mean they check your Credit all the time; unless you sign up with them. Once you fill up the application, then they will have all your information to check. So, it is just a junk mail and nothing important to worry about.
I tell you what, don't let anyone or any company check your credit too much if it is not important. everytime they check your credit, then your credit score will drop down a little bit so you have to be careful with and who you give out your SSN to.
do you know why you have so many junk mail? May be you used to sign up with free stuff or fill up with winning thing that you have done a long time a go... those companies sell out your information and then those junk mail will mail to you and NON STOP. Just throw them a way... Everyone has junk mail, so it is ok... not just you tho

If my memory serves me well I think that the company needs
a social security number in order to check ones credit as
well. I think thats the case anyhow.

These days I keep my paper recycling box right by the front door so all the junk mail goes straight into it. I get so many credit cards/car insurance/house insurance/catelogue offers etc., and although I signed up for mailing preference, the junk mail still arrives. For a while I found a good way to get back at them, simply by opening each and every one with a pre-paid reply envelope in. I ripped up the contents and stuffed them into the reply envelope and posted their junk mail back to them :-)

Someone else also said to send the junk mail back to them. I had never thought about that before but I'm going to do it next time. Give them some of their own junk mail back.

I got on the do not contact me list. My junk mail has slowed down so much in the last year. I seldom get the credit card mailers. When I do I open it up. Stick the blank application in there and maybe other junk mail just for kicks then I mail it back in the prepaid envelope. Try that sometime. Send them their junk mail right back and eveb add a little more for kicks.

Oh that would be so funny. I'm going to have to try that next time. I have never thought about doing that.

Yeah, I will but we probably just have to keep tossing it. It just drives me nuts getting all that and I don't want them messing up my credit by checking my credit each time they send me one of those credit card things.

I get alot of junk mail too. I can't think of a way to stop them. I do know that they hope that somebody will be interested in their junk mail and pay for their product or service.

I do get a lot of junk mail everyday. As soon as I find any in my mail box I will straight away delete them. Most of these spams are related to prizes winning in cash, money making online or those asking for investment. I never believe that we could make money so easily so I reject and erase them without any dely.

I get a lot too. I have contacted the credit card companies to tell them that I dont want any of their offers. There is a small letter in the offer that should have a number to call to opt out. I only works for a few years though then they will all start up again.

Not much really thank God. All I have to contend with are the flyers that are included in my credit card statements and my magazine subscriptions. I have already resigned to the fact that it will not stop so I just put the junk in the trash without going through them.

I don't think there's a way to prevent junk mail. Like others said the best way is to use one email for personal and one email for signups. The other great thing is a really good mail client with spam blockers. My suggestion would be Gmail because, frankly, I love it. I rarely get mail that shouldn't be in my inbox and rarely does mail that isn't spam go into spam. It's a great mail client.

Hoards. Credit card applications, millions of catalogs, pure junk I am not at all interested in and have no idea where they got my name and address (We are unlisted in the phone book). Every day, I get junk. I would say, if they took all the junk away, I would only need to get mail weekly because that is how little mail I get that is worth anything.
I wish it would end. I am shredding stuff and recycling catalogs constantly.
