If I am at a table I try not to. Good manners were instilled in me, and I still use them throughout my life. At home we don't eat at the table, so I don't have to worry about the elbows as my plate is usually in my lap lol.

Yes we were always told this as kids and I guess I am so used to it. That I do find it annoying when I see people do this, I guess cause most of the time the are holding thier head up like they are just so exhausted they can't stand it. I think it is just plan rude.

Hi peanutjar!
As a kid my brother and I were raised to keep our elbows off the table, and honestly I'm glad we were. I think it's rude and impolite to do that at the dinner table. I will also raise my daughter to be well mannered and not put her elbows up on the table at dinner.

oh god, my brother does that. everytime he eats, he always put his elbow on the table(both of them) and he never lift it above the table either. I hate to see him do that, but what can I do because it is his habit and I am the youngest one, so I can't say anything.

Hello peanutjar, No I don't put my elbow on the table when eating. Yes, when I was young we were always told not to put our elbow on the table while we are eating because it is not right and considered a bad table manner.
For me, I think its right that we should not put pour elbow on the table when eating for it also help our body posture by keeping us sitting with our back straight and not slouching on the table. :-)

sometimes i was told that, but lol, it's so comfrtable to sometimes just put one's elbow on the table or just sit listless with one's hand on the chin and think and play with the soup. lol.

Ive tried the eating thing in the living room sitting on the couch, but my plate somehow always ended up on the floor. My daughter likes to jump on the couch and tease,so the dog knows this and sits and waits for the plate or a piece to come flying!lol.I learnt to sit at the table then.:)
