My friends two year old has a bad cough. He will not take medicine . She always has to fight with him. She says no matter how she tries to disguise the medicine like in juice, he knows and spits it out. She's at her witts end. What suggestions can you give my friend so I can pass it on to her?

From my experience the best thing to do is either force him to tke the medicine, or if the cough really isnt that bad just to leave him alone. My kids are always fighting to take medicine. I just tell them that if they want to feel better they need to take it, if not then to let me know when they are ready. I know that he is young, but he should understand that he needs to take it to feel better. I know this isnt much help, but it worked for me.

Yeah that's a thought you want to continue to feel miserable then don't take it. If I had a kid that's probably what I'd do unless it was some really important life saving condition, otherwise I'd probably leave them alone. I think we are over medicated anyway.

I can feel for your friend!! I remember holding my daughter down on the floor trying to get her to take her medicine, and my little boy just stip it out everywhere-if I ever got it in his mouth. I asked this question a few months ago and was told about the Tylenol chewable tablets...too cool!! And they also have some Triaminic cold and cough strips (for stuffy nose too) that disolve in your kids mouth, both of my kids take both with no problems!! We don't even buy the liquid stuff anymore. I was so thankful that I actually wrote Tylenol a letter thanking them for making such a great product =)
