How many things do you use coffee filters for?
I was cooking bacon this morning, and it dawned on me that I didn't have any paper towels. So as I have done many times before I reached for the coffee filters.
I have used coffee filters for cleaning mirrors, windows, soaking up grease, wiping up messes after the kids, and a lot of other things.. I have even used some to blow my nose, and use the potty.
Yeah been through some pretty rough times..LOL
What have you found yourself using the coffee filters for? Have you heard of anyone using them for anything else?

It is a good idea, especially when you are out of paper towels. You can use them for many many other things. Try it sometime.

I like using coffee filters for other purposes too. Whenever I repot a houseplant (or make a hanging one for outside) I put a coffee filter opened up in the bottom of the plant pot and cover the holes in the pot. It keeps the dirt from coming out the holes, and when watering it doesn't seem to drip as fast. I also use them for potting up little plants I've started when I sell them at my yard sale. It's quick, clean, easy and cheap...just place the plant in the filter with some dirt and tie it up loosely (like a bag.) You can keep the plants moist in a tray with a little water all day while they're up for sale.
I also use a coffee filter for when I clean & polish my good silverware, or other pieces of silver that I have (picture frames, jewelry, etc.) Paper towels disintegrate quick, and old towels are too absorbant. Coffee filters soak up just enough of the polishing material or liquid, and is very mildly abrasive without hurting the silver.

Great idea, especially for the potted plants, I like to hang a lot outside. But seems I am always frustrated with the dripping! I hate getting my feet soaked when watering. LOL

Now this is an example of why I love myLot. I have never used coffee filters for anything more than holding my coffee grounds in while brewing a hot fresh pot. Ewww wipe yourself with a coffee filter? I sure hope it was a clean one at least. HAHAHAHA!! I think I'll have to think more about uses for my coffee filters. One thing I can say right now though, I won't be wiping myself with a clean or dirty one anytime soon. HAHAHAHA! Thanks for some helpful suggestions also.

I find that coffee filters are the most versitile of household paper products. Who would dare use toilet paper to clean mirrors or windows? I find that coffee filters are best at removing oils and fat from dishes I am cooking. I usually use a leaf of lettuce, but if that isn't available, I use coffee filters. You just let the corner of the coffee filter sit in whatever it is you are cooking and it is almost like the fats and oils rush over to the filter

Very interesting, though I never really thought about coffee filters being used for any thing other than the intended purpose, it is interesting that they can be used just like a paper towel, though slightly smaller. The comments on here were helpful as well, if I thought about it I am sure there are other uses as well for coffee filters just like paper towels, I know that I could use them in my truck for other purposes, such as collecting the condensation off of cups in my cup holders, they would fit and they are absorbant. Thanks for the tips..

No problem, you should try to use them to wipe the windows, or clean the dash too. They leave hardly any streaking believe it or not.
