Do You Get Sick Often?

Had a conversation with a friend today and she gets sick really often, like at least once a month. Either it's about her stomach, or getting a fever, or back pain. There must be something every month.
I don't. I usually get sick around 2-3 times in a year. But now with my wisdom tooth is coming out and causes me pain, I would regard that as one of the sicknesses too. Mostly all I have would be flu/ cold.
Do you get sick often too? Or it's seldom for you to get sick? What kind of sickness do you usually get?

I am always sick. I have never had a time when I wasn't sick it seems. =p
I have certain chronic health problems, but because of those I also catch pretty much every bug that goes around. I always seem to be getting the flu, or various infections, or colds. It's impossible for me to be healthy, because I'm starting from a base immune system that just isn't normal, as well as having breathing problems and now a problem that was first thought to be a vestibular disorder (inner ear) but might be neurological instead they think.
I guess you're just one of the lucky ones! I hope you appreciate your health and enjoy it every day!

I have gotten sick often since I was 18. I had a triple case of mono that killed my imune system. I got mono for the flu and a doctor mis diagnossing me not once but three times. I now have to be careful about going around people who are the least bit sick because it is so easy to pick things up. I can't just be normal get a cold and be better in a few days no I have to end up with phenmonia for three months and get breathing treatments every other day. I couldn't even get normal gall stones I had to have a tumor instead. This sucks but I keep a positive out look because if I didn't all I would do is cry and I refuse to live my life like that. No amount of illness is going to keep me down there is to much to do

I am glad that my immune system is still working and strong, as I often get sick. I don't even catch colds easily, maybe it's because of the supplements I take and the foods I eat.
The normal sickness I get are those coughs and colds, that I am happy to share that I haven't gotten into for a year now!;)

Hello wondericequeen,
Very seldom but I get sick at the same time every year. It will be in Feb-Mar and Aug-Sept (yes, you are right! I am going to get sick this month!) Normally I will have high fever during these two months. Very funny! At first I didn't realize it. When I checked my MC form carefully, I realized that I always get sick during these two months. I think it is my month of sickness!

Very cute! You have two months like high risk for your sickness? At least you could be prepared for that then!

I am quite healthy and I only get sick once or twice during a year.Usually it is headache or cold.I thought maybe there is something wrong with your friend's immune system and she needs to do more exercises.

Hi Wondericequeen, and yes, I am among th eonce that get sick pretty often. It suffices that someone has a cold and get it right away from them. Or when I go outside and there is cold wind, or it rains and I get wet - I could even get pneumonia. There is a problem with my immune system that is causing it, and from now on I have to start building it up with various vitamins, and herbs, or I will be ill the entire winter otherwise, and this really sucks for me. And I'd love to go away from here and be living in some place where it is warm the year around, believe me :)

I often wonder why I get sick (always the same illness, which is the flu). I get sick from this around three to four times in a year. I would get the cold, cough, sore throat. Whenever I go out and get in crowded areas I would get some colds. I try to take ascorbic acid regularly though. I try to eat nutritious food. Though I guess, it would be the environment that cause me to have such illness. I don't know if I have weak immune system.

Probably environment plays a major part of it. That is interesting input about stress. I think it would have to be lack of sleep/ rest too. Yeah, I guess, that causes stress.

I think it could be the environment you are not used to! I usually get sick after I work really hard on something and I think that's related to the stress level!

I hardly ever get sick. I don't think I have ever had any illnesses (colds or flus) to speak of since high school five years ago... probably because you're exposed to viruses and stuff more when you're in a setting with a large group of people for prolonged periods like that. And even then it was no more than once a year. I have never really had any illnesses to speak of except for just a cold here and there... Though I have known several people who seem like they've caught something every time I turn around. They improved tremendously when they got older though, which is good... I've been lucky (knock on wood).

when i was a kid, then i often got sick, so my mom was very busy everyday, she had to work and she had to take me to the hospital everyday. so now i hate hospital very much, sometimes i feel trembled when i hear the word of hospital.
when i became older, then my mom took me to her shop, then i would do some exercises, then i didn't often get sick. but now if one person around me have a cold, then i must be infected/

It's easier for me to count the days that I'm not sick than it is to count the days I feel good. It has been that way all of life, in fact I was even born sick and my mom had to go home without me. I have grown used to it though it does get annoying and it annoys my friends who think I'm just avoiding them when I say I feel ill and don't want to go out. It has caused problems when working as well, all the sick days. Normally it's either my asthma or allergies (or both) or a migraine, or really bad fibro pain or my back that has been bad since I injured it a few years back. I also seem to catch any and every cold or flu that goes around. I'm just thankfull that it hasn't been anything worse and that I still have good days.

I was getting sick quite often until I found out allergies were making me sick. Then I went on medication. The medication that blocks allergic reactions, my insurance won't pay for and it's 100$ American a month. But they will pay for something that just deals with the symptoms, but that medication makes me sick.
So I bought a dehumidifier. That takes care of 90% of my problems. My sinuses get rhinitus. That's when they over-react to weather changes. They're like a barameter, they fill up under damp weather conditions, esp. when I'm sleeping and they don't drain at night. So I sleep with the dehumid on and that my illnesses way down.
But around February, I was getting hospitalized every year with a gastro-intestinal problem. My internal energy is very low around the end of Jan and throughout Feb. It doesn't pick up again until later. So I arranged my wedding in February, figuring, and rightly so, that I would be too hyper to get sick. It worked! Now it's my anniversary and I'm too happy to get sick, usually. Or if I do, it's mild.
In some people's interpretations of illness in my religion, if you are ill, that means an opportunity to learn how to cure yourself. The more often a person is sick, the more the person is called to learn and change. Since trying a similar attitude, I have learned a great deal. You'd be surprised the number and kinds of things I've either cured or found ways to lessen or avoid since joining my religion.
Now I seldom get sick. Like you 2-3 times a year, but I was like your friend, every month or even week after week. Maybe your fried has allergies? Or some other underlying problem like low energy.

Good that you are better now! Oh my friend, not that I am mean but I kind of think she has a too imaginative mind. She couldn't describe the sickness exactly and those "sickness" don't really affect her normal life. So I think she is really asking for attention *laughs*. Anyway, I will try your approach next time I get sick!

Oh, so you think she might be a hypochondriact ( someone whose illnesses are all in their mind). That's possible.
Maybe she couldn't tell you exactly because she doesn't know or it has to do with that time of the month and she doesn't really want to get into it. Anything's possible.
Anyway, glad you found my post helpfu. Take care.

Your friend sounds like a hypocondirac. Some people like to be "sick" to get attention from others. Thank god I don't get sick often. Once a year I'll get a cold and that's it. I had the flu once two years ago that was the first and only time I had it.

Unless you count allergies..I would say that I don't get sick very often at all. I did get sick a couple of months ago though, and boy was I sick!!
I couldn't talk or breathe without coughing uncontrollably. It hurt so bad. It turned out that I had an infection in my left lung. Right after that, my tooth broke and got infected. So I had to have a root canal. I don't get sick often, but when I do it seems like I am bombarded with one thing after another!

Hi!
as far as your wisdom tooth is concerned,if it is taking long time to come you shud immediately consult a dental surgeon, since it could be a case of impacted growth-this will lead to frequent oral infection since food particles which get accumulated around the impacted tooth will decay.this infection will make you sick often-maybe 2-3 times a month.
as far as your friend is concerned, there could be three reasons:
*poor dental hygiene like not brushing the tteth after meals, not washing hands before meals, etc.
*some inherent source of infection like an impacted tooth, infected appendix or chronic constipation.
*poor immunity-that is body's defence mechanism against invading germs.
poor immunity can be boosted thru AYURVEDA and some other combination of vitamins, minerals and amino acids, etc.
u can contact Dr Virashri for free online health advice on virashri_v@rediffmail.com

Thanks! I visited the dentist and now the pain is gone. I am planning to take it out next month because I tend to have that pain every 6 months. Thanks for the advice though.

I want to tell everyone that we get sick usually, but it happens all because of us. Though we have to take care of ourself.then only we wont fall sick often..the sick we fell often is due to mindset not due to the body changes..It is all because of us..So try to motivate your mind that you shouldnt feel sick

Thanks God I am not sickly. My immune system is working hard to fight back bad bacteria or virus. I only got a slight head ache and over fatigue but when I take a good rest and I sleep well it's gone. I also have my yearly propylaxis to checked my teeth.

I am not sick often I mostly have the flu or sinusitis. But even now I am sufferng from a bad case of the flu and I have not stayed home from work. I guess I am just used to being at work that staying home makes me uncomfrotable knowing that no one is there to take care of our callers/clients.
i think I have the flu because I need some rest and my body ahs been telling me that but until I get some one to replace me at my desk I just have to go on.

It seems I'm always sick. Although this year hasn't been too bad for me. I usually get three or four colds a year (with fever and all), and it usually takes me two or three weeks to get over them. I've got such a lousy immune system!
