We are going to the Royal Adelaide Show tomorrow, so I wont be online at all. The Adelaide Show is one of the most exciting events of the year for our city ( and my daughter). We will be there for at least ten hours, & it is very tiring. My daughter loves the scary rides a lot. She also buys a few show bags. I love seeing the cats, dogs & some farm animals. Horses are banned this year due to the equine flu. There are fantastic displays, of gardens, native animals just about anything you could think of. My husband likes to look at cars, electrical items, etc which tend to bore me after awhile. At night we go to the grandstand to watch displays of singing, motor cycles & fireworks. The whole thing will cost at least $200.00.

Hi jennybianca! Oh I love those kind of shows. The last time I watched similar to that here in our country was ten years ago. Although every year just before the christmas holidays, similar shows like that are being shown here in our country but I never had the chance to see them lately. And goodness, that cost a lot, huh? But I think it is really worth it. Take care and have a nice day.

What country are you in? And what types of shows are there? $200 isnt a lot really for something along these lines for 3 people. It's actually a decent price I think. A movie for a family of 4 with goodies and dinner after the movie would cost over $150 now days here in the States. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Yes, it does cost a lot. Some spend way more than us. For others, it is simply unaffordable.

Hi Grandpa Bob! I am from the Philippines and $200 is equivalent to alsmot 9,200 pesos for us. An ordinary employee here will just earning that much for a month and I guess, this will answer your question why it is expensive for me. There are rich people here in our country who can fford such shows and I guess, I have just seen one show like that ever since. The show that I watched were circus performers from Russia and they have also some motorbike running in circles of fire, some acrobats, clowns and it run for around 3 hours, I think. We paid 750 pesos per head and that is approxmately $16. Take care and have a nice day.

That sounds just like a state fair here in the states. I will be going Thursday evening with my clients. I will go again with them on Saturday to take them to a concert. I am tired already just thinking about it, because I will get up and go to my first job at 7:00 am and work all day, go to the fair, get home late, and have to get hubby up at 5:00 am. Friday. It will be a lot of fun as well. See ya around all the exhibits. Have a wonderful time.

The clients I refer to from time to time are adult mentally handicapped that I provide residential support for. They always go for one evening, tomorrow is it. I am a driver as well, so I am going and taking some other staff and clients with me. I

Oh, I see. A challenging, but rewarding job for you. It will require a lot of supervision on your behalf. You won't be able to relax & enjoy the show I would imagine.

Yes, it would be much the same type of State Fair. But why do you have to take clients to your fair? I found it very tiring yesterday. We were there for ten hours & not home until 10.30opm. Most of the time we are on our feet at the Show. I must be getting old!

Wow, sounds like a great time for you. The cost would keep me from going. Even spending a few bucks on the movies is too much these days. The cost of gas, food, and fuel is sucking our finances dry.

Sounds like a fun time planned for all. What are "show bags" anyhow? I spent 14 hours at the Minnesota State Fair and it was about $200 or so as well. It is costly but the fun and memories are priceless. You all have a great time and look forward to seeing you here when you return. With a bunch of photos I hope. HAHAHA!!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I have described show bags to the member below you here ( I think). I saw your other comment regarding cost. I am from Adelaide, south australia. We will probably end up paying more than $200.00. Others spend hundreds more than us. Some families can simlpy never afford to go.

The Royal Adelaide Show is the second largest attended Royal Show in Australia, following closely behind Sydney. Adelaide, however, attracts 35% of the State’s population compared to Sydney’s 13% and over 6,000 people are employed at the Royal Adelaide Show throughout the nine days. Here is a link to an excellent timeline of the history of the Royal Adelaide Show. http://www.adelaideshowground.com.au/showground/royal-adelaide-show/history.jsp

Is this like our State Fairs? It sounds like it. Are there baking contests and craft tents as well? What are show bags? Can't wait for you to return and fill us all in. Do you have big name entertainers as well? Did you see anyone we would know? I hope you have a great time.

Yes, it is our Statre Fair, and yes, there are lots of competitions.Certainly baking contests, gadrening contests & lots more. Lots of craft displays. The farmers all come with thier animals to be judged. Show bags are a collection of goodies, with a theme that one can buy. For instance, one showbag my daughter uis buying is the "Girlfriend" magazine showbag. It will have at least one magazine, notepad, lipstick, etc. Some iof them are good deals, other aren't.
