I believe it is a day of triumph for the Filipino people. Not in so much as seeing Erap fall but in conquering a political giant. It sorts of symbolizes that it is possible to have some justice in the Philippine courts. It is not a secret that justice is believed to be impossible in the Philippines but this event lights up a tiny spark of hope in our judiciary system. I am not happy that Erap was convicted because I do not have anything against him personally. But his conviction was a great step towards justice in our country. Not only that it is possible for our courts to be just but also that our judiciary is not afraid to convict political giants from this time on. I just hope the other politicians will learn from this example.

I remember the saying, "you did a crime then you do the time." I don't really know why people can't just accept the fact and obvious eveidences that were documented, and also even presented by the prosecutors. Although that I am not an Arroyo supporter, then I am most certainly NOT an Estrada supporter either. I am not blind, I don't believe a person just because of his popularity nor one's display of credits, I stand by what I see and from what I've learned.

I can't say. If this in reality could be a sign that we have better law enforcement for the people doing sins, then this should not hurt. But in reality, it feels like loss especially for supporters of his, that one former president, let us accept that he may not be as fit for presidency, but one time he might just be living a quiet life. It looks like this for me, because I did not take part of the issue. How exactly how someone could be corrupt. I can't judge. This afternoon when the judgment has not yet started his wife was being interviewed and there is a wife crying for the fate of her husband, as if she knew how later the things will turn out, I can't judge exactly for which reason. But I can almost discern her feelings towards close friends and other people who seemed to have left or betrayed them and turn to the other side.

its a triumph. judging from the comments on this thread i can say that not many people see Estrada as innocent. how come on the news they keep saying that he is innocent, that he is being blackmailed? im not saying im pro arroyo but then again, i havent seen her failing in her duties. people are so paranoid of a return of the martial law era, blinding them of the positive potential that the current president can do.

it is a day of triumph, when one is above the law, when those who have sinned will pay, although other people like chavit, perez and atong ang and so is jinggoy must also pay for what they did, even GMA, but at least estrada would pay for what he has done to our country, because i would never believe that all his lifetime he has not profited from our money, i just wish he was not such a good actor, crying in front of the tv, showing her mother, the media is sensationalizing it, and not pointing the importance of being able to finally convict a man who has done our country injustice.

I haven't at all expected that Estrada would at all be acquitted - NEVER while GMA is the President. It's GMA who grabbed the Presidency from Erap and practically all the high officials in the Executive Department and Judicial Department are cohorts of GMA (and Cory too). It's common sense. Look at the bases for his conviction - are those sufficient reasons for them to grab the Presidency? What are actually the reasons for them to grab the Presidency? Erap won by landslide during that Presidential elections, no cheating or dirty tactics were applied. I didn't like him to be President but I respect the will of the people. If they acquit Estrada, they would have no reason at all why they grabbed the Presidency. Estrada has been confined already for 6 years. Why should they now release him?
