Would you ever live in a cave? I'm not talking a dark, damp and icky cave but one that was furnished and livable...like the picture. I would love to live in something like that. I think it would be a blast...not to mention unique LOL
I love how they carved out the tub, doorways, ect. Them cavemen really knew how to live, huh? LOL
So would you live in a cave if it looked like this?

That is the coolest thing I have ever seen. Of course I would love to live in that cave! It would be awesome! Can you imagine, kinda like living in the Flintstones days. Great picture~ where did you ever find it?

It is really nice. I think I might like to stay in one for a while, but I really don't think I would like to live in it permanently.

When it really comes down to it, i really wouldn't care, as long as it kept me dry when it stormed outside, protected me from the wind, and kept me warm in the winter, I'd be one happy camper. Not really a picky person.

Out in the opal fields in the small outback town of Coober Pedy in South Australia, living in dug out caves is the norm. The summer temperatures are so severe, it's imperative to live underground where the temps remain constantly cool.

I remember seeing something on TV about that place once. The only thing you see above ground is a sort of exhaust tube. I remember thinking how cool that was.

I wouldn't live in that cave. It looks like something out of the Flintstones.
I do have neighbors near me who live in an "earth ship" or a home that really is built into the ground. The south facing side is exposed and has windows and a door, and there are sunlights on top of the mound of earth to let more light in. I haven't been in it yet, but it is a modern home, with walls and plumbing and electricity. It is MUCH more energy efficient, as the earth cools it in summer and warms it in winter. It's an ingenious idea if you can get beyond the aesthetics of it. Someday, it may be the only affordable option as heating and cooling your home become more and more expensive.

good morning twoey, yes i would live in a cave, i also feel it would be fun,it would be different and to me very cool like living...yes i agree with you the cave men had it made but they probably though they were limited, funny how things change...I have lived in a houseboat before and that was also a cool and unique place to live...I would even live in a tent too..i had a friend that did that, they make some really nice ones and it was so cute and cosey...I could live most anywhere,my main concern would be happiness,to me thats the most important thing...

Well I saw the pix and my answer is both yes and no. yes coz it would definitely be an adventure, you know something like living in a tent. A welcome break from the even, uniform, monotonous four walls. But no coz I saw the cave has no partition! I mean I know it’s a natural cave but the cave where I would live would have to be a collection of subaltern chambers. One I would make my grand bedroom, the other the loo with a huge stone bathtub, then my kitchen and one my lounge. I would then feel like the perfect mouse I read about in the fairytales, little homes beneath the ground, beautiful and perfect!

Wow...nice cave....must upgrade soon! ....:)
I don't know where this one is, but I saw some cave homes and even a cave hotel featured on one of those home or travel network shows once.
Of course those are reserved for those rich cavemen.

I cannot imagine it. I would wonder how do I heat this thing? What happens in winter? Will it just be like glorified camping and where do I put the computer and all the other stuff? It would have none of the modern amenties, would it? At lest, I did not see any lamps plugged in, but then I am getting rather tired now and should soon go to bed. I suppose someone who had an idealistic idea of life might not mind, although it would be nice to try especially during the summer.

Actually something this nice and I'm sure you could fix something for heat and air...generator for electric...spring for water. I see lights up by the ceiling and water in the tub...sounds good to me LOL

I have seen some shows on tv about homes like this and althoug they are beautifull i do not think I could live in one, I need windows and light coming in and im afraid i would feel closed in. It would be nice and cool in the summer tho and would be a home everyone would want to come and visit for sure.

I like windows and lights too but maybe one big window could be built in on an outer wall? That would solve the problem Then again maybe I'd just put up a window frame with curtains and put a scenery pic behind it...change it with the seasons. LOL

I have always loved seeing the shows about strange homes. Treehouses, cave homes, underwater homes. On the travel channel I think is where they put those shows. I would love to have a home like that. Definitely a conversation piece..lol.

I think it is a unique and creative way to live! It looks like fun! I wouldnt do it if I had a big family, but if we were empty nesters that would be a good idea. I am sure the heating and cooling bills would be pretty non-existent!

I think I could be happy living just about anywhere, twoey, as long as I had plenty of books to read, my music, and art supplies. It really comes down to your frame of mind and whether you are living with someone that is agreeable to you.

I heard that! If I was miserable with who I was with it wouldn't matter if I had a 100 room mansion with 24 carat gold floors I'd still be miserable. I may not have the mansion but I'm happy with my Hubby and kitty.

It is pretty cool and safe from the elements and and nuclear threats but I would still prefer to be above ground.

Oh definitely! It's not creepy or spidery at all. I like to have it completely dark when I sleep so that would be great. I think I also must be part vampire because I prefer cloudy days to sunny days. Right now the sun is shining and I've got all the blinds closed. I just like dark. Drives my husband nuts though. But yeah, I could definitely do that cave. Cool!
