Whenever i have minor headaches, i am usually tempted to take aspirin right away.. but i would rather not. So as long as i can handle the pain caused by headache, i usually endure it as long as i can manage.. I think i have this notion that if i do take aspiring right away, i will eventually become dependent on it.. but i don't know if always taking aspirin have side-effects?
Well, all i do whenever i have minor headaches.. i just take in lots of water, fruits and vegetables.. i don't experience fast relief when i cure my headache the natural way but i think it's safer.

I don't take Aspirin at all but I do take Pain Reliever like Excederin Migraine if I know its going to develop into a migraine. Not now however as I'm nursing.
I have several stages to headaches. An okay everyday one that I have all the time. A kind of bad one. A bad one. A really bad one. A whopper and a whopper of a whopper. My migraines generally fall into the last two and are of course accompanied by other symptomss.
I applaud you not reaching for the aspirin for every headache as medicines can build up in our systems over times - in the liver for instance.
For migraines, since I'm pregnant, I take caffiene - which isn't recommended for other headaches, and try to lie down in a dark room for a while if I can. OR take a short, hot shower. A hot compress also works for me.
How wonderful fo you drink lots of water and such to prevent headaches. Another way Alternative Medicine Doctors will recommend is by having the herb, Feverfew in your tea each day to preven them.
Great topic.

Imagine that.. a headache with different levels! i would sometimes describe it according to the level of its intensity..a simple headache, a headache of sort, a super headache, a super super headache, or a mega super headache! Lolz..
Isn't caffeine not advisable for pregnant women? i don't know, maybe not too much?
Try also some touch therapy on your headache.. i usually enjoy a good head massage and really feel relieved by it..

I'm not pregnant I'm nursing now. And my midwives and doctor said have some caffiene rather then medication. I don't usually drink coffee or anything.
Sounds like we both have catagories for our headaches just called different things! :)

I guess intensity is a better word then stages as many headaches slam right in in seconds as a whopper....
It hurts too much to have my head massaged during a headache, and I never really like my head touched its not calming it its uncomfortable sometimes even painful. Although I'm a great advocate of massage having just finished my training before getting pregnant!

I try to avoid aspirin and other medicines as well. If I have a headaches, I try drinking some water, because I often get headaches just because I am dehydrated. If I am at home, I will take a short nap, and that might help.

Well i have never taken anything for headaches. No, never. I just take a nap or bear the pain. Because when u take them a lot your toliration for the medicine will go up and eventualy u will start needing more of it to make a small headache go away. The doce u will need will increase the more u use it so eventually it wont help any more then either.

Yes, that is also what i believe.. that i will become dependent on aspirin or medicines if i take them right away to relieve me from headache.. but if headache really persists that i cannot endure the pain any longer, that is the time i take medicine.

A lot depends on the cause of my headache. If it's caused by my back or neck being out of place I will take an ibuprofen and lay down for awhile. That relaxes me enough so that it usually goes back into place. If it's caused by lack of sleep or reading to much, I just shut my eyes for awhile or take a nap and that usually takes care of it. If not I'll take the aspirin or ibuprofen. I take a lot of pain medications anyway because I have Fibromyalgia and Arthritis so I don't take anything extra if I can help it.

it depends on the cause of the headache.. i know that headaches can caused by so many things.. sometimes i have headache because of stress at work, sometimes because of my strained eyes, and sometimes a symptom of my pre-menstruaion..

I wait about 30 minutes before I take an aspirin, if the headach is not gone! I really don't like to put aspirin in my system as it thins the blood. But if the headach is really bad right from the start, I run for the aspirin. I also drink plenty of water and juice, sometimes I just need a quick pick me up!

Taking in lots of liquids really help! as for me, i do not wait for just 30 minutes.. i even wait for hours and sometimes a day, just to see if my headache would go away.lolz. Usually after a good night sleep, i will feel better and headache free. :-)

our body has an immune system that helps in healing sickness and pains by itself. taking medicine immediately even if you can take the pain will slow down the work of immune system so it is better to endure the pain if it is tolerable but if not take medicine. the best way to heal head ache is just sleep. but if i am working and cannot rest I have to take medicine.

I see, really rest helps to regain our health and energy.. but you're right coz sometimes when you have to work or go on travel and your head is aching, its better to take medicine right away.. for convenience.. i do that sometimes but not often coz i really endure the pain as long as it is tolerable.. but i also always have medicines in my bag, ready to be taken in in case i badly needed one.

I agree, I usually try to fight it myself either by sleeping drinking lots of fluid. But my main way of releiving my headache is through a quick nap. Most of the time its just stress build up and well once I sleep it off I feel much better. I actually don't take aspirin, I am into holistic medicine which is a little better then taking medicine that you can purchase at the pharmacy. It is more natural then those. But even with that I am careful b.c anyone can become dependent on any type of thing. SO only in big emergencies do I take aspirin.

I am not really fan of the pills. And specialy headache is not really reason for me to take a pill.I beter take some lotion with some good smell and apply on my forehead or try to make so tea.In general I am trying to fix with natural way. Also I do not have headache that often, so once in a while it s not that bad to deal with it.Also i hear what you write, you can be easy dependent on pills and that's what I do not want happen to me.So at first alternative medicine and after that I might get a pill.
