What's your favourite thing about your dog?

What does your dog do that makes you smile?? Does he bring you your slippers or gives good cuddles?
My dog is a jack russell terrier, and they are well known for their hunting abilities and usually if they see something hunt-able they will chase it and kill it. But i'm proud to say he's not like that at all, he found a lizard in our back yard yesterday and didn't kill it, just stood there barking at it. Jack russell terriers are also known for their yapping and barking, but again he surprises me by not being a yappy dog at all, he only barks if there is someone around or something (like a lizard) in his yard.
They are also meant to be bad with children, but he is great with our toddler son.
I'm very proud of my boy!

Hearing you talk about the lizard story brought to mind an endearing trait our old dog had. He was an Old English-black lab cross and made people smile just to look at him, he was so funny looking. But he was a pretty good guard dog and had a "warning bark" when he thought something wasn't right. One morning in the wee hours when he was about a year old, he began warning at about 5 AM. Got us out of bed, because usually that bark meant someone was messing around the property. We got outside in the early dawn light and found......a huge wooly bear caterpillar!
My current dogs' most endearing trait is that nose-flip thing they do when they want petted. You know-they shove the cold wet part under your elbow and then flip so your arm lands on their backs? Makes me smile every time they nudge.

Both your old dog and your new dog both sound lovely! I don't think i've ever seen an Old English crossed with a black lab before, I bet he was just lovely! And the story about the caterpillar made me smile :) Thanks for sharing.
And yes our other dog does the nose flip thing, it's so cute!

hi, i have 2 jack's, gexie and "ore"! one is the hunter the other he bodyguard, never leaves my side! the way they look at you first thing in the morning, probably asking, mommy how did you sleep? i saw a mouse bothering you and couldnt come in, are you alright?? these two girls bring us so much joy, teaching us how to be with our own kids one day!!

Mine gets up on our bed, once my partner leaves for work, and usually sits there waiting for me to allow him under the blankets, but lately i've noticed he has fleas, so i get the disapointed look before he jumps off the bed in disgust. Jack's have the biggest characters :)
