I absolutely agree with you. I mean, movies are fun and it's nice to see all those moments you imagined while reading the book on the screen... but that's not even half as satisfying as it is reading the book. They leave so many important things out of the movie! For example, they filmed Snape's worst memory but cut out what had actually made it become his worst memory! When all those who had not read the book go and see movie 7, they won't understand very much...
But that's just me... I just adore the books, I ENJOY reading the books. But I have fun watching the movies too.

it seems the farther they progress to the other Harry Potter books the more details they leave out.
I remember when the Sorcerer's Stone came out my friend commented that it was exactly as it was written in the book.

i strongly agree. definitely the book. though because of the movie, while reading the book you can imagine faces of the actors who portrays the character.

that's a good idea. I'm a bit lazy so I usually see the movie first. I might try your way from now on.

yes, most of the time the book is better and that goes for other adaptations as well like star Wars, Jurassic Park etc. etc.

For me,i think that both is good. I like watching the movies because the graphics and the animation is really perfect. I'm sure everyone is imagine the scene while reading the book. So, the movies let us know more about the scenes. But unfortunately, there's some scene or some small part of the real story have to be cut of. It's because there's not enough time to show the whole book in one movie. It's quite sad about it. However, I like like it so much.

yes, I guess each has its own good points like when you don't have much time to read the books you can always find what the story is all about without spending too much time.

i think they are different things.Movice can satisfy our imagination ,but it doesn't have enough time to show all things in the book

I totally agree... reading the books scores over watching the movies any day. I feel many important parts have been left out in the movie. But i love reading .. so i may be partial as well. But the magic of J.K. Rowlings books scores for me any day and I prefer reading the books to watching the movies.

same here, funny thing is though it's only recently that I really appreciated reading books. Before, if I heard that a movie adaptation was coming I would just wait for it.

Well, if we read the books, we can make our mind explore, and imagine what its looks like.
But the movie, yeah, it's good, great really. But there is so much deleted scenes that is important in the book and they (movie's crew) just miss it!

I think it really depends on what the original is and since the Harry Potter books were originally released as books they work better as books to most people.

The books are hands down better than the movies. I think, from my own experience. The smartest thing to do is to watch all of the movies FIRST and then read all of the books because I think if you read the books first, the movies are a bit disappointing.
I wish I would have waited to read the books. I think the books are actually more visual and descriptive and that makes it better.

Exactly!
I tottally agree with you.
There's just some elements of the book that simply cannot be captured on film.

Yes, there are some things that wok best if the reader was to imagine it.
It also depends on the author and in this regard I think J.K. Rowling absolutely rocks!

You are absolutley right!!!! J.K. Rowling's writing is far more captivating than any of the movies. The books are so detailed so precise and the timing in them is fantastic so you don't miss out anything at all, where in movies the entire point is to narrate the story in 2 hours and miss out quite a lot of the book. Especially after the fifth harry potter movie was released I was so frustrated because they had missed out on so many details, which made really mad. So yae Books are more captivating than the movies and J.K. Rowlings writing is far better than the HP movies.

Well, no one can beat J.K. Rowling har! :) but what I enjoy most about the movies are the Quidditch matches.

The books of course. It is more detail, and you can use your own imagination while reading it.

J.K Rowling created such an amazing world, even Hollywood couldn't compete! Don't get me wrong, I loved watching Hogwarts come to life, and seeing all the characters go through their battles. But so many of the details got left out, and those are the things that made me fall in love with the series. Like Dumbledore and his crazy ways - the movies just don't do him justice!
I am excited to see how they do the final 2 books though - I can't wait to "meet" slughorn and all the other new characters!
