What is it all about?

There have been lots of connotations of the word "meditation" and it has been like that for the past several years. No one, if I may say so, really fully understands, not even I, this word or even completely define such practice. Though we have to admit that we usually hear religious people that they practice such "ritual." No one really knows. Or better yet leave it to their keeping - a sense of respect to those few who deem it that way. But what really is meditation? How did, does and will it affect one's living? Will it ever affect man? These are a few questions left unanswered 'til now.

Meditation I believe is a time where you choose to delve into yourself to find answers that you have previously not found anywhere else. I believe there are many different types of meditation used by all walks of life. I also think there are many different names for it - such as prayer, day-dream, astral traveling - well they are the ones I can think of for now but I am sure there are more.
I guess I cannot answer your big questions about how meditation will effect everyone that is and was living because I can only understand meditation from my own unique point of view. I can say however, I meditate every day as often as I get the peace and uninterrupted quiet. I enjoy my times 'away from life' and I feel rejuvenated after a nice bout of meditation.
Good luck with finding your answers.
