Absolutely. It is very common for gorrillas, chimps and many other "high apes" to learn rather large vocabularies of sign language. And not just learn the signs but a genuine comprehention of it as a language. This has been going on I believe since the early 70's.

I think its great that the apes are able to do that . You think they have better sign lanusge than humans?

There have been many dedicated people that have been above and
beyond the call of duty to recognize these traits, even a few
killed for there dedication. But also have done intense research
regarding this subject. I commend all those who gave there life,
so that we could learn more.
