I agree with above. Go for Stephen King. I suggest either 'IT' or 'Carrie'. They are amazing books!

The novel Catch-22 is a great book and wonderful movie. If you like action adventure with a military backdrop this is an excellent book.It will be up to you to figure out what the catch is. Have you ever heard this saying "It's a catch-22"? I would also recommend an books written by John Grisham. If you like legal drama he's the man!

I've never read Catch-22 :( Sorry I couldn't help there. Anyways, might I suggest telling people how old you are and what kind of books you're into? It might make it easier to reccomend books you'd be interested in :) Anyways, here's my must-read list (shortened version, there are far too many books I think everyone should read!). I apologize if any of these are not suited to your age range, I'm only fifteen and I'm not sure how old you are so we may well be interested in different things. Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury - A classic, incredible book that offers insight into a futuristic society that I'm sure has never been thought of before. Just read it, it's simply amazing. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien - Another classic tale, though this one is very much a fantasy story, so if you don't like fantasy I doubt you will enjoy this. The One Who Came Back by Anita Mayer - A remarkable story about a young jewish girl who survives the holocaust. Extremely tragic, but not too painful to read. Atleast, it wasn't for me, and I read it when I was 11 or 12. Holes by Louis Sachar - A book that absolutely anyone, of any age, willl enjoy very much. I know I did. The movie is also excellent.

Try "It" and "Desperation" by Stephen King. Somewhat old, but good books. (I hope I didn't get the names wrong, it's been ages since I read either one of them.) And I agree with the previous responders' suggestions: John Grisham's books are great. Read them if you have a chance. I've read some books by Robin Cook, and they're also quite good.

I really enjoyed The Stand by Stephen King and Hearts in Atlantis also by Stephen King. In my opinion, anything by Stephen King, Dean Koontz, or James Patterson is almost guaranteed to be great.

James Patterson's stuff is pretty good. Also Mary Higgins Clark, Patricia Cornwell, John Sanford, Jonathan Kellerman, Robin Cook and David Morrell. All of those are some variety of action/thriller/suspense/mystery. David Morrell has a lot of espionage and secret military themes in his stuff -- he's the creator of Rambo.
