I've recently listened to Uncut magazine's curent compilation Global A Go Go "celebrating 20 years of world music"
It's a great cd and I want to expore more.
These are the artists on it - can people reccomend what albums I should get by them, or any other similar artists?
Manu Chao, Tinariwen (have already downloaded and enjoy the Water Is Life album), Rachid Taha, K'Naan, Mahmoud Ahmed, Gogol Bordello (love them already, have their last two albums), Robert Plant and Justin Adams (his Timbuktu material, have some other songs from his 'world' stuff on Plant's compilation), Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Bassekou Kouyate and Ngoni Ba, Ry Cooder and Ali Farka Toure, Orlando 'Catchaito' López, Amadou and Mariam, A Hawk and a Hacksaw, and Damon Albun's Mali Music.
(yes I know it's a stupid term - all music is from the world)

Great list! I don't know some of these artists but Manu Chao and Ali Farka Toure and Ry Cooder are already favorites. I also love manouche like Tchavolo Scmidt and fado like Souad Massi.
